Newt’s the guy who attacked those who were against ethanol subsidies. He even called for a government mandate that every car must be able to run on ethanol.

Santorum: “My position is that we should phase out all energy subsidies and create a level playing field,” the Pennsylvania Republican said in remarks after lunch to about 50 people at the Steve and Jan Boender farm in rural Oskaloosa.

The Newt supporters seem to forget when Newt was younger when he got into the GOP and there are many videos having him talk about his admiration of progressives like FDR, Teddy Roosevelt, and Woodrow Wilson.
There is also a video that even shows Newt in his own words saying that he came into the GOP as a Roosevelt, Rockefeller, ENVIRONMENTALIST ... yes, you heard it right, a environmentalist.
Newt still touts the virtues of the likes of Woodrow Wilson, Teddy Roosevelt, and FDR.
