Islam and democracy are incompatible

Egypt, a country called typically Russian resort, is grasped by the so-called "date revolution." Interfax-Religion correspondent Yelena Verevkina asked renowned expert in Islam Alexander Ignatenko what is the role of Islamists in undermining foundations of this "beach paradise."

Alexander Alexandrovich, what is the role of Islamist underground in organizing disorders in Egypt?

- I think their role is not too significant as the things happening in Egypt, can be called revolution "two in one." On the one hand, it is a revolt of people who have been oppressed by gerontocratic corruption regimen, but on the other hand, it is so called "color revolution" that tries to use this people's impulse to redistribute power and property among elite groups of Egypt. Renowned activist Mohammed al Baradei is the leader of this second revolution.

As to Islamists, they have always been active in Egypt, but they are not playing a leading part in this revolution, here are different moving forces, different infantry. However, today they are in expectation as they have rich political experience. What are the reasons of this expectation? The reason for it is that any political group that will come to power in Egypt (for instance, people who stand for "color revolution") will have to deal with a complex of problems, very difficult, very old that have recently have become more acute, and they won't be able to settle all these problems. It is evident today that they are trying to conclude a kind of agreement, public or secret, with those forces that are trying to kindle this revolution or suppress it, with counterrevolution forces.

First, let me say that Islam and *ANYTHING* are incompatible. The bloody death cult is even incompatible with itself, murdering tens of thousands of their own savage cult every year.

As for this ...

> I’m not to certain this writer knows what “democracy” is.

Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for lunch.

In a Republic, the sheep get to vote for the wolves who then vote on what’s for lunch.

In a Constitutional Republic, the sheep and the wolves have a binding contract limiting what the wolves can do, and the sheep are ARMED in order to enforce the contract.

There is an Islamic Democracy but is a mostly in theory not in practice. Indonesia and Mali as the only Muslim-majority countries that are fully-fledged free electoral democracies

Even these countries have their problems.

I don’t like the use of “democracy” as a synonym for “freedom”. It isn’t.

Democracy and tyranny are not mutually exclusive.

Democracy only ensures that the majority gets to be the tyrant.

Individual liberty stands by itself, independent of majority rule.

All should pay attention to speeches by both Damocrat and Republican politicians over the past 20 years for the vitual ABSENCE of the word "republic," and the ober use of the word, "democracy."

That will pretty much tell the story.

It depends.
If it is in the north American / English culture the Magna Carta is the basis for its codification and injection into the culture’s infrastructure.

Muslims never experienced the reformation of the church and the birth of Individual rights.... and it is this that has kept them out of modern man’s loop and trapped in the 7th century as barbarians.

It’s not the translation. Even in the original Russian the writer sounds stupid, i.e., “deliberately ignorant.”

In a nutshell, that is what it is. Be sure to let the nanny state teachers understand this as well. Thanks for your input.

It depends.

Actually, not so much.

Most of our current problems are precisely because the concept of majority rule has won out over the premise of individual liberty. Democrats don't even give a head nod to individual liberty anymore — its all about group rights.
