You wouldn't expect to see gun control happening in Texas, but that's what will be taking place at a few Astros games this year.

Here's the deal: The Astros are marking their 50th anniversary this season, so they'll be wearing an assortment of throwback uniforms for Friday home games. That includes the uniform of the Houston Colt .45s, which was the team's name for the first three years of the franchise's existence.

Man, you just ticket me off. The Astros didn’t force that crap. The MLB did. Are they located in Houston? I didn’t think so. PC P*****!

Hey, when the Baltomore Bullets moved to DC and changed their name to the Wizards, for the same reason, that put a huge dent in the crime rate in our nation’s capitol, didn’t it? /s This reminds me yrs ago of the contrived controversy over teams using Amereican Indian names (Indians, Redskins, Cheifs, etc.) Someone who claimed to be an “Native American activist” Dennis Prager’s show to debate him over this. He asked Mr. Praeger “how would you like it if there were a baseball team called the Texas Jewboys?” Praeger’s response: I would be all for it, after 5000 yrs FINALLY someone would be cheering for us! I was ROTFLMAO

The funds raised in these FReepathons go to pay our current quarter expenses. But we're also going to try to replace some of our older servers and failing equipment this year so we're going to add a little extra to our FReepathon goals. John is estimating ten to fifteen thousand to do this and I'd like to get it all in place and working before the election cycle is fully heated up, so we'll try to bring in a little extra now, if we can, and the rest next quarter.

They should have kept the name Colt .45’s. What’s an “Astro”? Sounds like a dog’s name.

The other team name that I dislike is the New York Mets. “Mets”? Sounds like a town in France.

IIRC, Colt Firearms tried to pressure ‘The Judge’ to pay up for using the 45 as the logo. Judge said no and changed the team name to Astros.

There was a good joke making the rounds about that: “The Washington Bullets announced today that they no longer want to be associated with crime and violence. Thus, they will now be known simply as the Bullets.”

Don't you know?

"Mets" is short for "Metrosexuals".

Rusty Staub and Bob Aspromonte.
Gosh, I’ll never forget going to the ball park with my
Dad to watch the Colt 45s/Astros.

Imagine life without FR ???? AAAAAAAAAAAAACH Let’s do it. A monthly donation is pretty harmless and it’s a TERRIFIC idea. If this Cheesehead pro Walker fan can donate - YOU can too!
