A brokered convention could be exhilarating IMHO: (a) keeps the attention on Republicans who will be hammering Obama; (b) avoids Obama’s ability to focus on one candidate early; (c) avoids the stale, dangerous months between an early end to a nomination fight and Tampa; (d) offers most likely opportunity for Gingrich / Palin; and (e) assures that the nominee won’t be Romney.

It would certainly draw the attention of the nation and with our instant communications in the 21st Century the healing of the party divisions would take place very quickly.

It would actually make watching the convention on TV INTERESTING for a change since it won't be a pre-arranged coronation.

Concurring bump.

One little suggested change, though:

avoids Obama’s THE MEDIA'S ability to focus on one candidate early.....

The real culprit.

I have it in the back of my mind that Sarah's dropping out (supposedly) in September was actually a strategic duck-dive to avoid the media character assassins, and that she'll suddenly re-emerge in June or July, unless a strong contender steps forth to claim the nomination before the convention.

Just a thought.
