We fought hard for a law that prevents the Obama White House from spending our tax dollars to ban shotguns and to stop historic and collectible firearms from being imported into the United States. Obama wants to kill both of these in his budget.

I'm pro-gun, but this article doesn't even make sense. How does the budget relate to banning shotguns? Is there language outlawing shotguns? Is so, give us the citation. This readslike fund raising hype.

I believe he is referring to the several protective provisions the NRA was able to lobby into the last appropriation bill, along with other pro-constitutional groups. One of them prevented the ATF from excluding certain shotguns from importation. President Obama’s budget restores the funding for these anti-gun provisions. I show the section about shotguns below:

— Shotgun Importation Protections. Prohibits the Department of Justice from requiring imported shotguns to meet a “sporting purposes” test that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) has used to prohibit the importation of shotguns with one or more features disliked by the Agency, such as adjustable stocks, extended magazine tubes, etc.
