Thread XXXV? Woo hoo!! We're getting close but need to put this FReepathon to bed before we run out of Roman Numerals. I'll have to do the research but I think there's some kind of trick when you hit 39 or 40.
We don't sell products or services on FR. We don't sell advertising. We don't charge membership dues. We are not a 501c non profit and therefore are not subject to government regulation. We pay all applicable taxes on our income and are free to speak our mind. Our operating costs are funded solely by donations from our readers and participants and that's the way we'd like to keep it if we possibly can. We are beholden to no one but our like-minded, pro-life, small government, strong defense, conservative grassroots membership!!
The funds raised in these FReepathons go to pay our current quarter expenses. But we're also going to try to replace some of our older servers and failing equipment this year so we're going to add a little extra to our FReepathon goals. John is estimating ten to fifteen thousand to do this and I'd like to get it all in place and working before the election cycle is fully heated up, so we'll try to bring in a little extra now, if we can, and the rest next quarter.
No matter who gets the nomination or eventually wins the election, we're going to need FR more than ever to hold their feet to the fire!!
We need FR and FR needs you!!
Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God!!
We are the resistance!!

I’m tired of northern winters. But I don’t think that I’d like hurricane season any better. I grew up in tornado country.

I agree. That is way too cold of a night without heat. Several years ago, I called our local utility company because I couldn’t fix the furnace that time, he showed up, spent several ours at our house at $75 an hour but only charged for 1/2 half hour and a beer! :)

The Cajun is right, onyx. 40 degrees is dangerously cold.

He sleeps upstairs without any heat all winter, so this is of no inconvenience to him. I can (and do) sleep downstairs many nights, and, I have this portable heater right next to me now. I’m going to the basement soon to “have a look” right after I cook the dinner.

That's what worries me. Most of the time when the pilot light goes out on a Central, it's the gas valve or the sensor that detects the pilot is burning.
Both easy fixes if you have the part.
Repair guys always carry those parts.
Usually just the pilot sensor, $20 part.

We had a gas furnace at the last place that we lived. On windy days it would blow the pilot out. The furnace was in the attached garage.
