Regardless of the content, which Rick has discussed at length in some interviews I've heard and which is defensible, this is a cute ad. And one that fights the meme by many here that he has no sense of humor. Yes, he often talks about serious stuff and does so appropriately seriously, but get him onto less serious subject material and he's a loose, normal guy. Things like this from the past will help to counter Obama's efforts to paint him as the head of a coming inquisition.

Rick's ad with the mud slinging "Rombo" is the funniest ad of the campaign to date. If Newt goes negative with his recharged wallet I wouldn't be surprised to a Rombo level two ad with both targeting Rick, yet hitting each other. Obama has been remarkably thin skinned regarding humor aimed at him. Rick can score a lot of points there.

I disagree, at least in whether he is convincing at it.

My problem with him, is that I can't hear him, see him, I never have been able to draw him into focus, Santorum has been a name in my political world for 17-20 years, but he has always remained a wisp of smoke to me, merely a name, his conservative voice has never reached me, I still don't know who he is, or what he is.

He remains an elusive, unformed figure to me, which I have learned to accept over the years as meaning that he isn't a real conservative, a true conservative, there seems to be a hollow place in his role as a conservative leader.
