Mommy and daddy...if there is a daddy at home are nothing but sick perverts who are abusing this kid. A three year old knows nothing about sex. Only that he is hungry and needs his diaper changed. This is mommy wanting a daughter and damn the fact that she has a boy. This kid will be missed up for the rest of his life.

That or the parents are lying (which I think is most likely the case). They will probably make a fortune doing sympathy interviews though. Heck, they may even get their own reality TV series. Thus is the world we live in.

Our current artificial level of comfort allows women to pretend they are able to kick men's butts, at least on TV.
When real male skills are required for survival we will no longer be obsolete and mothers will appreciate male offspring as much as female.
Not only that, soon, they won't even remember what to turn back. Each generation accepts as normal the conditions they grow up in. That includes government telling you what you must buy as well as 3 year old boys deciding they're girls.
