Bullsh*t. I retired early because of stress and burnout. If I hadn't retired, I would be pushing up daises. I am busier now that when I was working, the difference is that I am now in control of my life and can do what I want and when I want to do it. I am happier and healthier than ever before. This is the best time of my life.
mostly, people don't have the money......
Thank for post #66.
My comments were harsh because I get so tired of posts by people such as editor-surveyor (”If you stop working, soon you will drop. Retirement is for those that wish to have a closer relationship with their mortician”). It’s that crap that riles me up.
I don’t care one whit if someone chooses to put his or her nose to the grindstone until they haul them off to the funeral home. Fine, be under someone’s else command all day long. Just don’t tell me that yours is a superior lifestyle. I don’t buy it.
Yes, that is true, and I recognize it. Reality is what it is.
Just don’t go on this crusade that work is what one should do to be fulfilled in life even if one works until death. It’s loaded with undertones of “those who choose retirement are lazy, no-goods who are digging themselves an early grave.” That is BS.
Can you point me to where the info is about where you can get an HSA account for $168??? Thx
You’re preaching to the choir friend...I’m retired and loving it. If you enjoy getting up and going to work have at it.
No, no - you’re right. A big generation that’s gotten everything it wants is actually a victim of all of this.
My bad. :)
Yes two ranges Lol
Envy is not your strong side!
Clearly you've never worked in software development....
For the physically lazy and the non-creative person retirement must seem like hell. To me, not so much.
“Envy is not your strong side!”
No envy, just sadness to know that there are people who are willing to exploit their neighbors. But, as I said, we’ve become Greece.....
Actually, I did fortran programming back in the ‘70s, chomping up holerith cards by the boxfull on a 1441 punch.
Well I did “it” in the 70’s,80’s,90’s and 00’s. I am ready for retirement....
>> “There you have it folks, we HAVE BECOME Greece” <<
.
Uncalled for!
When was the last time you saw Randy burn a bank down?
It is equally sad that one person who made choices 30+ years ago is singled out as the problem this nation has and is derided by those who would have taken the same course if offered to them 3 decades ago!
Find someone deserving of your scorn besides us who decided to work for our living to support our families rather than accepting handouts.
“Find someone deserving of your scorn besides us who decided to work for our living to support our families rather than accepting handouts.”
Well, I’m going to make some assumptions and you correct me where I’m wrong. You were a public employee of some sort. And, a member of a union. As you stated, you did your 30+ and have retired at the age of 55 - still young by most working folks standards. Now, here’s the rub, for both you and the good citizens who must continue to pay for your life of leasure for the next 30 or 40 years, God willing. Your pension is probably pegged to the CPI or some such index and perhaps your union will negoiate some additional bumps for you along the way, plus there’s your med and dental cost which will continue to increase as time moves along. So, here’s your problem Gloating Person, will the good citizens that are currently sustaining your good life continue to do so? It’s quite possible, perhaps even probable, that in the not too distant future they will say “enough is enough” when faced with continual and never ending taxes increases in your behalf. We’ll see. Btw, just out of curosity, who was your employer for these past 30+ years and what union are you a member of? Come on, share :)
