They let dead people vote.
Then I cannot vote.
The Dems already do this. Prisons, nursing homes and the funny farm.
“You want to include this group in making life or death decisions for our country?”
Based on that comment, I would say the people on the death panels are mentally incapacitated. As well as the people who wrote the law.
I would go so far as to say Bart Stupak is mentally incapacitated and therefore Obamacare should be struck down on that premise alone.
I prefer a far more permanent solution.
We’ve got to educate people that reliance on government is slavery and voting in their own immediate self interest is the chain that keeps them in slavery.
Voting to let that rich guy keep more of his money is good for all because he produces the hacksaws than can cut the chains of slavery. As more slaves are freed, they themselves become tools of freedom for even more slaves.
just great! how do you draw the line when dead people are voting? illegal aliens are voting, and all kinds of fraud is already a reality.
Liberalism is a mental illness, so they obviously will vote Democrat, so no way in hell are they going to be denied the vote.
At the same time, there are many American's, and my son is one of them, who suffer true mental illness and are, through no fault of their own, on disability. My son has never been on unemployment and had worked as a fueler at a local airport before he had his first major psychotic break that put him in a locked adult psychiatric unit for 60 days. He is a good kid who had dreamed of being in the military like his big brother (currently an Air Force pilot), but due to this horrible illness that is largely genetic (two of my mother's sisters were intitutionalized with schizophrenia), and which he doesn't want to have, that dream will never happen. After a very long, slow rehabilitation period, he is currently doing relatively well and volunteers for the Civil Air Patrol.
But this is only due to the risperidal consta shots he gets every 2 weeks (which we, his family, pay for out of pocket to the tune of $1200/month - more than my mortgage!!!).
I get infuriated when I hear of people faking mental illness to get on disability because it makes it that much more difficult for people who truely are imparred to get the help they need. Serious mental illnesses, like schizophrenia, BiPolar and Major depression are very real illnesses - just like any other biological illness, but it just happns they affect the brain as opposed to some other organ.
What infuriates me at least as much as the fakers is the way mental illness is treated in society and the utter ignorance expressed by people when they talk about the mentally ill - as if mental illness isn't a real illnes. It is!!!! - I only pray that those who think other wise, or think it's something to joke about, never have to learn the hard way by having a loved one stricken with a major brain disorder. I'd rather my son had cancer.
But should he loose his right to vote? It will be a cold day in hell before I'd stand by and watch that happen. That said, those who are found to be faking mental illness, and doctors who facilitate such phoney claims, should be punished harshly! But don't paint all mentally ill individuals with that broad brush - that is patently unfair!
if a person is collecting disability money because they are mentally unfit to work and be in main stream America (they are not able to discern information properly) then YES, they should not vote. Why would I want them to have the right to vote? You are saying let them vote so the government does not take your rights away, maybe, someday. That to me is not a good enough reason to allow people with mental disorders the right to vote.
Have you lost your mind?

Please see my post #28. I'll apologize up front if what I'm about to say is harsh - but the ignorance about mental illness displayed on FR is very disturbing and frankely very disheartening. Some of the attitudes displayed here are what makes having a loved one with a serious brain disorder 10x more difficult than just about any other illness. My son did not ask to have schizoaffective disorder - he had dreams of being a pilot like his big brother currently is in the Air Force. Having SA does not mean he is an idiot nor is he incapable of "functioning in society." This is utter BS my friend! What it does mean is that he has a very real, biological illness, which thankfully is managed fairly well with the right therapy and the right (very expensive) medication. One of the ways I advocate for, not only my son, but for everyone with serious mental illness, it to respond to threads like this one in order only to educate people so that you might understand that mental illness is no joke and it is as real as any other illness. Again, see my post #28 - please. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your posts. I am so sorry about your son, but it is good to hear that he is doing well and hope he continues to. Mental illness is heartbreaking on so many levels, and to see some attitudes about it just makes it more upsetting.
For the last fifteen years I have been on disability with bipolar disorder, an illness that is on both sides of my family - two on one side, one on the other side, (one of them was on disability with bipolar disorder), and two suicides. But I am also SEVERELY asthmatic, and have to take many steroids. I read that the cruelist thing you can do to someone who is bipolar is give them steroids, and I have been taking them for twenty-five years with asthma. Ive been hospitalized many times with adult-onset asthma, and often given massive doses of steroids, always causing severe problems with my bipolar disorder - once even a near-fatal suicide attempt. Ive also been hospitalized several times with manic-depression. Also sometimes the drugs I take for bipolar disorder affect my asthma. Its like living in hell sometimes, as these two illnesses and their treatments fight it out in my body and my brain. Someday, I feel sure one will get me, and I dont think it will be asthma as I have four documented suicide attempts, three requiring hospitalization.
I never know how the steroids I take quite often are going to affect my bipolar illness, but they nearly always cause it to go out of control to some extent - at times, with near fatal results.
Some years ago I wrote extensively about what it is like to be bipolar and asthmatic - it was part of my therapy in dealing with all this. Today, I am on many drugs for both and also on oxygen.
And I have no second amendment right, but thats okay - I wouldnt be here if I did.
But now people want to take away my right to vote - it just never stops.
Prayers for your son, JaguarXKE.
No, that is not what I am saying.
What is a mental disorder?
Define it for me.
Who decides what a mental disorder is?
Bless you brother.
You have mail.
Bless you sister, thank you for sharing.
Thank you. I shared my story to hopefully put a human face to someone who is on disability with a mental illness. It is hard to talk about and I hesitated about posting this. But hopefully my story can lend some light and perspective to this issue. At least I can pray it does.
Thanks again, and Godspeed.
Hey, wicked critical thinking skills there. Really impressive. You got, like, a gold star for it, I'll bet. One of those sticky ones up at the top of the page, right past the crayon marks.
