Anybody hear Lou Dobbs interviewing a man last night who said (I believe) there were 22 million people receiving disability benefits?
He also raised an interesting question when he brought up that 20% of these have mental disabilities, and asked whether it was appropriate for these to be able to vote.
Since they applied for benefits claiming mental instability and the federal govt must have agreed, then it seems there is a strong basis for disallowing any right to vote.
Amybody disagree?
On the other hand, the Soviet Union used to deny citizens basic rights by declaring them mentally unfit.
Mental disability could easily be used as a tool by a corrupt administration to prevent dissenters from voting.
How many stories have you read about tea partiers or conservatives being mentally unstable? They pop up time to time, and most people ignore them. But what if the government latched onto them and started using it as an excuse to prevent tea partiers to vote?
Just wait until the government says you have a mental disability because you don’t participate in right think.
I can see this denying tens of thousands (or more) of our vets the right to vote due to PTSD.
No thanks.
Anybody on the dole shouldn’t vote. They should be drug tested though.
Since this leftest government thinks conservatism is a mental disorder, no it is a stupid idea.
Who decides what mental impairment negates a persons ability to think, the two are not necessarily equal.
They can define conservatism (& Christianity) as mental disorders,
and then define same sex attraction disorder as “normal”.
Depends on the mental disability.
Besides liberals are constantly coming up with studies that claim conservatives are insane.
From the communist goals for America
39) Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.
I agree that if someone has a mental disorder, they should not vote. That would include those collecting disability money because of a mental issue...
If a person has applied for disability benefits with claim of mental incapacity, then they should not be allowed to vote. By their own admission they are saying they are unable to function in society. Why would they be allowed to be involved in decision making?
Mental disability means they do not think right. You want to include this group in making life or death decisions for our country?
I choose not......
So when the government declares voting conservative is a mental disorder, then what?
I’m beginning to believe being declared mentally unstable is a requirement for running for and winning public office with all Democrats and sadly some Republicans.
Wouldn’t all democrats fall under the definition of mentally unstable?
“Republicans Win Presidency, Senate and House in Landslide Victories...”
That would be a very slippery slope. The determination of who is mentally ill would be a determination of the State. The liberal establishment has tried to equate conservative values with mental illness. The American Psychological Association is overrun by Leftist professors.
You sure you want to go there?
You make a great point but on the other hand whats to stop a deem organization like get out the vote from going to an asylum or hospital and signing up the truly mentally ill and voting for them absentee? I think its a real 2 edged sword.
What about Veterans with PTSD? They can suffer that for the benefit of the country, but not vote? Their VA benefits would then be completely ripped away from them, and they would have no recourse. Besides, who gets to decide which mental illness disqualifies someone? I’m sorry it seems like a really slippery slope.
I agree with you PM....unless we can get affinity for the democrat party defined as a mental illness. (which it is.)
“Mental disability could easily be used as a tool by a corrupt administration to prevent dissenters from voting.”
It is also a tool used to eliminate people. Mental incapacity drains resources from those who are not incapacitated.
I am willing to bet somewhere in Obamacare there is a provision for this.
As long as crazy, stupid people are allowed to be elected to Congress and the White House, why shouldn’t they vote?
