If a person has applied for disability benefits with claim of mental incapacity, then they should not be allowed to vote. By their own admission they are saying they are unable to function in society. Why would they be allowed to be involved in decision making?
Mental disability means they do not think right. You want to include this group in making life or death decisions for our country?
I choose not......
“You want to include this group in making life or death decisions for our country?”
Based on that comment, I would say the people on the death panels are mentally incapacitated. As well as the people who wrote the law.
I would go so far as to say Bart Stupak is mentally incapacitated and therefore Obamacare should be struck down on that premise alone.
Please see my post #28. I'll apologize up front if what I'm about to say is harsh - but the ignorance about mental illness displayed on FR is very disturbing and frankely very disheartening. Some of the attitudes displayed here are what makes having a loved one with a serious brain disorder 10x more difficult than just about any other illness. My son did not ask to have schizoaffective disorder - he had dreams of being a pilot like his big brother currently is in the Air Force. Having SA does not mean he is an idiot nor is he incapable of "functioning in society." This is utter BS my friend! What it does mean is that he has a very real, biological illness, which thankfully is managed fairly well with the right therapy and the right (very expensive) medication. One of the ways I advocate for, not only my son, but for everyone with serious mental illness, it to respond to threads like this one in order only to educate people so that you might understand that mental illness is no joke and it is as real as any other illness. Again, see my post #28 - please. Thank you.
