I was once arrested and spent the better part of a day in jail for non payment of child support I didn’t owe. (I don’t have kids) It was an inconvenience but I sure didn’t see it as a civil rights violation. It was a courthouse screw up and easily dealt with.

Another time I had a cop pull a gun on me. The cop even had me on the ground in handcuffs before I could prove it was a case of mistaken identity. The cop got my ID and showed me that I was a dead ringer for a murder suspect. My friends and I all got a laugh out of that one. No harm, no foul.

I’ve never had experiences that bad, but once was in a city a thousand miles from home and was pulled over by the cops when I knew I hadn’t violated any traffic laws. They spent at least 20 minutes on their car radio checking me out I suppose. They finally let me go after what was nothing but a fishing expedition because I had a tag from a state far away.

That was car tag profiling and should be legal, even if it is pretty irritating. It probably turns up a wanted man or woman now and then.
