Santorum: I will defend the 2nd Amendment

Coming from Pennsylvania, a state with a rich heritage of hunting and fishing, I understand firsthand the importance of preserving our constitutionally protected rights found in the second Amendment.

I fight to preserve this tradition, and will work to ensure these rights are not infringed upon.

As a Senator, I opposed frivolous lawsuits against the gun industry by supporting legislation, such as the Protection of Lawful Commerce Act that would protect law abiding firearms manufacturers and dealers from frivolous lawsuits attempting to hold them liable for criminal acts of third parties.

I also vehemently opposed the Assault Weapons Ban because I believe that there are more effective ways to stop gun violence, such as stricter enforcement of existing laws, than taking away the rights of law abiding gun owners.

And John Kerry owns a bunch of shotguns and a couple of AK’s, and shoots skeet and trap pretty regularly, albeit at a rather exclusive club. There were tons of pictures of him actually holding semiauto firearms, and some of him dusting clays.

Let’s see one of our Republican candidates brag about their score when they took in a CMP match, or be seen within a dozen feet of a firearm.

Romney has a pic from 1999 or 2002 of him in a group of Republicans, some of them holding guns or dead birds. Santorum? Gingrich?

I am not a “godless liberal-tarian”. I am, however, a Christian, and not the kind of Christian that winks and looks away at serious problems within Catholic doctrine (or other various denominations). I support Newt and think he is a man of integrity, but I’d never go around celebrating their religion as the best reason to vote for them.

Sorry, I’m not secretly for Mitt Romney like you are.

As for that bill, it’s an example of Santorum’s wishy-washy feelings on gun control. It’s legislation like that which has lead to students getting in trouble for drawing little pictures of guns. It is specifically giving the department of education and schools, which are filled with leftists, the right to promote anti-gun propaganda at tax payer expense. His record is mixed, at best. He has supported good legislation in the past, but his speeches make me look at him as a typical senator from PA. A moderate, in other words.

The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. The best predictor of whether I would vote for Mittens is his past behavior.
