JULIA Gillard will call a leadership ballot for Monday following the dramatic resignation of Kevin Rudd.

The Prime Minister will announce the ballot tomorrow, just as Kevin Rudd flies out of Washington.

Ms Gillard says Mr Rudd did not contact her before he resigned as foreign affairs minister.

His letter of resignation arrived late this afternoon, just as he was holding his Washington press conference.

Seems odd to resign a government leadership while on foreign soil? What's up with that. Isn't he as big a moron as she is?

She is an idiot. Rudd would not do this unless there was somewhere to go, if he loses, then he can resign from parliament and then they could lose that seat as well.

Gillard was going to sack Judd first thing Thursday Morning (Australia time). By resigning last night, Judd took her by surprise and will trigger a leadership spill.

In any case, he is trying to be as loyal to her as she was always to him.

Rudd is better than Gillard - not that that says much.

He's done this to take her by surprise. He's succeeded. I don't think anyone in Australia was expecting this - and he timed his resignation so it would be announced just before the evening news in Australia - a news cycle that Gillard had been carefully setting up as a show of her strength suddenly became all about him.

I don’t care which one of these loosers leads the Labor party.

I just want their title to be Leader of the Opposition.
