You are right. I know of severe abuses of the “wetlands act” against private property owners, yet cities will fill wetlands at the drop of a hat with no reprocussions.

And how about the claim from the DNR that “more than half of the wetlands are gone since the arrival of the first settlers”. That’s just silly.

Yes, more than half are gone...Our forefathers turned them into viable farms and we've been reaping the benefits ever since. The water is still there...it's simply flowing in a controlled manner or leaching with the help of old clay tile pipe.

Our main post office is one big wetland.
