An Ohio woman who compared animal-welfare work to the liberation of World War II concentration camps has been charged with soliciting a hit man to fatally shoot or slit the throat of a random fur-wearer, federal authorities said.
Meredith Lowell, 27, of Cleveland Heights, appeared Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Cleveland, where a magistrate judge ordered her held by the U.S. Marshals Service pending a hearing next week, court records show. One of her defense attorneys, Walter Lucas, declined comment when reached by phone after the court appearance.
Investigators say the FBI was notified in November of a Facebook page Lowell created under the alias Anne Lowery offering $830 to $850 for the hit and saying the ideal candidate would live in northeast Ohio, according to an FBI affidavit filed with the court on Friday.

She reminds me of another young Peta supporter who I saw douse herself with fake blood outside a store in Regent Street. It was like the film “Carrie” come to life. There was a novel (I believe by Tom Clancy) where a bunch of animal rights nuts were going to create some virus where everyone on earth except those in their building would be wiped out, leaving the world to their small group and the animal kingdom.
Except they lost in the end so our heroes plopped them next to their compound in the middle of a very remote part of the Amazon forest, buck naked, and destroyed their compound. They then told them to enjoy their “natural” world as our heroes left in their helicopter.
One of my favorite endings.

I've watched enough Law & Order to know that she is guilty of SOMEthing. Death penalty? No, but INTENT to commit murder for hire? You bet.
I wouldn't be so cruel to those poor hunters, would you?
If she manages to get out on bail, she may just decide to slit the throat of some poor kid (regardless of the kid's age) to become a martyr for the Animal Rights cause.
She might even supply something made of fur to the kid just prior to the killing.
She should not be able to show her face anywhere in the neighborhood without one or more people instantly recognizing her and tracking her actions closely.

Walk into any low end dive bar and within 2 phone calls, someone there will have you hooked up. Or talk to some crack dealer on a random corner and slip him some cash. Or find some whacked out delinquent around town....
They are not remotely hard to find. Whether they CAN do the job is another matter and you ain’t gonna get a ‘quality’ job for the money she offered.
Human life is a commodity to be bought and sold with a lot more people than anyone’s willing to admit. Unfortunately.
