Rick Perry took a shot at Rick Santorum prior to tonight's GOP debate, saying the former Pennsylvania senator is "weak on the 10th Amendment" and lacks the instinct to go after big spending in Washington. In an interview, Perry touted Newt Gingrich as the best Republican in the field to be the party's nominee for president. Perry said of Santorum, "He thinks that Washington needs to be making a substantial amount of those decisions" regarding spending and federal oversight of education, environment and health care decisions better left to the states. Perry appeared on conservative talker Michael Medved's radio show. The Texas governor is in Mesa, Arizona for tonight's GOP debate. He will be in the hall as a guest of Gingrich and will be in the post-debate spin room to promote his candidate's performance.
Perry was asked what he thought of Santorum's idea that not only the federal government but also state government should steer clear of overseeing public education. Santorum says public schools would be better off if they were operated at the local level. Perry said: "That's just nonsense." The Texas governor has called for more state control of education, but says the states properly should have a "partnership with local school districts" to administer public schools.

Santorum looks like a Conservative, but talks like a Statist. His words to the commies at NPR:
One of the criticisms I make is to what I refer to as more of a libertarianish right. You know, the left has gone so far left and the right in some respects has gone so far right that they touch each other. They come around in the circle. This whole idea of personal autonomy, well I dont think most conservatives hold that point of view. Some do. They have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do, government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulations low, that we shouldnt get involved in the bedroom, we shouldnt get involved in cultural issues. You know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world and I think most conservatives understand that individuals cant go it alone. That there is no such society that I am aware of, where weve had radical individualism and that it succeeds as a culture.

Has Santorum explained this anti-Freedom quote? Was he misquoted?
>> Man - Santorum sure looks like a Up with people weenie in that picture
LOL. Actually, I think it’s a good picture. The man has a handsome family.
If Newt wins the GE. I think Perry and Cain will be asked to be a part of his cabinet staff.
Newt/Perry possibly I wanted to like Santorum but he soured on me last night. He is not ready he lets his emotions control him.
Ricardo Perry is like a bad joke, you just can’t seem to get it/him out of your mind. Rick, you are a big time loser so please, go away, far far away.
There were several issues that caused me to rank Perry lower on the original list of candidates, but the mandate you cite was a big one. Only in the debate where he was attacked for it did I find out that there was an opt out for parents who didn't want it. That changed everything for me on that issue and frankly I found it dishonest that people made the accusation without the disclaimer.
That is also why I changed my original first choice Bachmann (tied with Cain) when she ran it into the ground so emotionally. I think that's what finished her off with many people along with the suspicion of her running for Mr. Inevitable's VP. I felt bad as she had the voting history that showed she walked the talk, but bailed on the walk at a crucial time.
Is that supposed to be English? It's barely decipherable.
So you think Newt is a deadbeat? Why?
FReeping from the Kindle sux!
LOL, fair enough
