PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- A Saudi Arabian teenager who authorities say swung his fist at a flight attendant and praised Osama bin Laden during a flight from Portland to Houston has appeared in court.
An attorney for 19-year-old Yazeed Mohammed A. Abunayyan (ah-boo-NYE-an) told a federal judge in Portland Wednesday that he needs more time to meet with Abunayyan before he enters a plea.
The indictment says Abunayyan interfered with a flight attendant and a flight crew member by refusing to stop smoking. He's also accused of hitting or attempting to hit several passengers.
The indictment also says he spoke or sung about Osama bin Laden and his hatred of women during the incident.

"On Sunday, Abunayyan reportedly was spinning circles in a car on Siskiyou Boulevard, driving erratically, and trying to run over pedestrians. He led police on a 20-minute chase back and forth through town, ramming two police cars before high-centering his car on a dirt embankment at the dead end of Clear Creek Drive. He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, eluding police, two charges of first-degree criminal mischief, three charges of hit and run, six charges of reckless endangerment, and two charges of assault on an officer, but posted 10 percent on his $65,000 bail."
Good grief. He pays $6,500 and they let him fly out of town?

I suspect you're right. I also suspect there's a lot about this guy that's not being printed. Ashland, OR is a college town, a very liberal college town, probably the most liberal town in OR and that's saying a lot.
I would guess his daddy is not only rich but has some very high up connections.
Excellent idea. Had I been on that plane, the lad would have likely received non recoverable injuries to his head, neck and spine.
He wouldn't have been any match for me since I've been in a foul mood for 3 years now.

Saudi, not Iranian. Big difference, especially to an Arab or Persian. They’ve been at each others throats for a long long time.
Far too many of these people are making it to trial.
If someone pulls that sort of crap on a flight they need to be stomped to death. Better to err on the side of safety.
