Did we not finance those same nations the know how to drill and build their oil industries?

Are we not financing their ability to buy and build atomic warfare weapons, by continuing to purchase their oils?

We certainly are financing oil-producing nations which are generally hostile to us. This cannot end well.

I doubt that "renewable energy sources" (solar power and wind generators) are any real part of a solution to this problem. Physics beats politics every single time.

We could of course develop our own domestic energy sources, including oil, natural gas, coal, and nuclear power. Liberals seem reflexively opposed to every one of these options.

There is also the more traditional option of colonial conquest, subjugation, and exploitation.

Or we can simply welcome our new overlords as they buy off our government with their new found money.

There is probably another choice available "(e) - None of the above" which I haven't enough imagination to describe in detail.
