An Afghan soldier joined protests on Thursday against the burning of copies of the Muslim holy book at a NATO base and shot dead two foreign troops, western military sources said.
The killings came hours after the Taliban urged Afghans to target foreign military bases and kill Westerners in retaliation for the burning of the Korans at Bagram airfield on Tuesday.
Eleven people have died in demonstrations across the country since then and 17 people have been wounded. Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets of several cities, chanting "Death to America!" and smashing cars, buildings and shops.
In a demonstration in eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday, an Afghan soldier turned his gun on NATO soldiers, local officials and western military sources said. A provincial spokesman said the soldier then escaped.

What, are we fresh out of nukes?
And why exactly do we allow muslims to come in to this country??
‘loses’???
‘Lose’ implies fought and lost.
In this case, “O” surrendered and walked away. Watch for the scene with the helo on top of the building with screaming, crying, desperate people struggling to get out!!!
I agree. Pull our people out and turn the entire moslem world into a glowing sheet of glass.
When will we learn that we are in a religious war that will not end until the last of of use dies, or the last on of them dies?
Of course it would help if we didn’t have an enemy in the White House.
The 21,700-pound [9,500 kilogram] bomb contains 18,700 pounds of H6, an explosive that is a mixture of RDX (Cyclotrimethylene trinitramine), TNT, and aluminum. H6 is used by the military for general purpose bombs. H6 is an Australian produced explosive composition. Composition H6 is a widely used main charge filling for underwater blast weapons such as mines, depth charges, torpedoes and mine disposal charges. HBX compositions (HBX-1, HBX-3, and H6) are aluminized (powdered aluminum) explosives used primarily as a replacement for the obsolete explosive, torpex. They are employed as bursting charges in mines, depth bombs, depth charges, and torpedoes. HBX-3 and H-6 have lower sensitivity to impact and much higher explosion test temperatures than torpex. The MOAB weapon produces a very large explosive blast, with lesser fragmentation effects due to a thin-walled aluminum casing.
Thats all fine and dandy, but a high yield nuke would leave that area of the planet completely uninhabitable for hundreds maybe even thousands of years. Its a win all the way around !
Just like Vietnam. Our soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen fought and died and were successful at every military mission.
Our politicians not only lost the war, they murdered members of the military. If Ron Paul weren’t so anti-Israel and anti-Semitic, I’d almost say he was right about this one.
The same is true in Iraq. Worse, the sheeple who listen to CNN and NPR push for these soft BS programs with their pols, so if we need to invade, they make us be all warm and fuzzy about it, so we lose. Give it a few years and the sheeple don’t care anymore and the military suffers.
The comfort of Islam is that everything is "the will of Allah". Therefore, if you fail, it was because Allah willed it, because he had other plans for you. You then just say "oh well: and move on.
A lot of people feel they need the ability to deny that their failures were their fault, more than material prosperity and liberty.
And the people who were supporting us were cut for bait, in the end.
The US was just as careless and indifferent with the lives of Koreans who supported us against the Inmun Gun and later with the lives of the Kurds. Stupid and ugly.
There is one “religion” that has a body count from two year-old temper tantrums.
I will not submit.
You go into one of these Third World sh*t-holes, displace the tyrannical regime running things, and try to improve the Neanderthals' lives and this is what you get: they attack you! We should leave immediately and commence round-the-clock carpet bombing of every city until they are all reduced to rubble.
What I don’t understand is why anyone felt the need to announce the mistake of burning the damn books anyway. Wouldn’t this sort of thing have been done within the confines of the military environment? Since when has the military found it needful to blurt out that a “mistake” had just been made? Why the hell then don’t we hear more of all the mistakes that are made in the course of a day... stupid ass Obama generals!
We have led this horse to water but it just won't drink! To hell with 'em!
It’s called Tritinitite.

Not true. Nuclear fallout is overrated. The deployed nukes are always less than the low megaton yield. A nuke incident would have a similar effect to the Fukushima disaster at most. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are major cities, and started becoming such soon after we won and started rebuilding Japan. I would propose that Fukushima is worse than our 20kt yield war nukes as far as the environmental impact.
Because we are idiots.
Dubya did us a *HUGE* disservice with his “peaceful, friendly Islam” nonsense. Arguably one of his worst moves as President, and he had some doozies.
Yer probly right.
We will have to drop 4 or 5 multi-megaton nukes in the same vicinity to achieve the desired effect.
....and Im ok with that.
