I’m thinking that Michigan and Iowa might be in play this year. But, if they don’t spend money and campaign in all of those States, it will hurt the down-ballot races for Senate and The House. We need to take control of the Senate and hold The House.

Assuming there are incumbent Republicans or close races downticket I agree. Here in Maryland we only have 2 Republicans in our congressional delegation Both of them are in freshly gerrymandered districts and are unlikely to survive November. I suspect most of the smaller blue states are similar. New York and California are obvious exceptions.

And I cannot imagine Michigan going Republican (though hope springs eternal). It hasn't been in play in my adult life, and I'm not young anymore. Maybe with Detroit empty we have a shot?
