Here's a more basic question. Why are the first things politicians of either 'party' want to cut is SS and military pensions?

When was the last time you heard a politician mention that illegals cost US tax payers NET $1/4 - 1/3 trillion per year, low wage immigrant households are subsidized by NET ~$20,000 per year, US taxpayers subsidize fixing up Mexican trucks to compete with american truckers, we pay tuition for Chinese science majors and Indian post docs, we fix up mosques overseas, . . . ?

It doesn't matter. Payroll tax is no longer related to SS and hasn't been for years. It's all just money now, the fed just dumps it into one pot and then spends it. There is no Social Security account with your name on it, there is no lockbox except a file cabinet in West Virginia with a bunch of IOU's in it.
