Howie Carr thread for the week starting with his Sunday Boston Herald column, "Crash Dumb and Dumber" Excerpt: "Here’s the question I’d like to see Gov. Deval Patrick asked this morning on network TV:

“Gov. Patrick, what exactly are you and your pint-sized lieutenant governor trying to cover up by refusing to release his cellphone records from the morning he wrecked a state car at 5:20 a.m. while driving 108 mph, after which your scandal-ridden state police began a massive cover-up as your minion gave a series of preposterous explanations, each one more unbelievable than the last?”

Crash dummy and dumber

Here’s the question I’d like to see Gov.

But the interviewer will be George Stephanopoulos, a notorious Democrat rumpswab. So Deval will get a pass in his tryout as an anti-Mitt Romney “pit bull,” an odd miscasting considering that the dog breed the governor more closely resembles is a Chihuahua, or maybe a toy poodle.

But once Deval returns to Boston, it’ll be back to business as usual — stonewalling all legitimate inquiries about what really happened that November morning. Deval said the other day that releasing Crash’s cellphone records would set a “terrible precedent.”

That’s exactly what Richard Nixon said in 1973 about releasing the White House tapes during Watergate. So, how’d that work out for him?

Then Deval said, “I think asking him to prove a negative is wildly unfair and unreas-onable.”

Well, no, it’s not. Because it would only take a few seconds to call up the cellphone records in question on the Internet and prove once and for all that Murray is finally telling the truth, that he was not calling or texting anyone in the moments before the Crown Vic achieved liftoff.

It would be one thing if the little fella had been leveling with the public all along, but he hasn’t. Remember when he said he was going the speed limit? First he claimed he lost control on some black ice — no, he fell asleep. He was out getting a Herald — no, he was conducting a storm inspection.

If there was nothing to hide, why did the state police immediately try to broom the whole accident without even checking the black box? Why did Murray demand to take a Breath-alyzer — or so he claims?

Consider what would have happened if Mitt Romney’s lieutenant governor, Muffy Healey, had gotten herself into this kind of jam. Forget seconds, Mitt would have given her up in nanoseconds.

Why is Deval engineering this entire cover-up? Is there something so toxic in those phone records that Deval is as much at risk as the Pillsbury Doughboy? Politically, Murray is a dead man walking, but Deval has a future, or at least he’d like to think he does.

For once, the St. Patrick’s Day breakfast may be interesting this year.

Deval Patrick is governor only BECAUSE of Romney

Itt’s not about if he was on the phone at the time of the accident. It’s about who he was talking to around the time of the accident.

Mistress, mob, gay lover ?

They carry Laura Ingraham; not sure if she’s pro Romney (I don’t think so). I don’t really listen to Feinburg and the Felon so I don’t know how they go. You could try WTKK (”Jim and Margery? I LOVE them!,” says my liberal sister), WXKS (Katz, Severin, Rush—Katz seems to be pro-Santorum from his facebook group) or laugh at the liberals
on WWZN or on NPR.

I’m sure you will find the latter two are not for Romney,
whom they would consider a far-right Rethuglican.
Whether it’s Ed Shultz or All Things Considered...

Why is Barack Obama, Jr. (or 2d) the sitting President instead of Deval Patrick?

Patrick is a great deal more presentable, has some sort of traceable past (ludicrous, but not too shameful), is a Natural Born American Citizen, and is at least as spectacularly incompetent, ineffective, incoherent, and altogether preposterous as our sitting POTUS.

Ah, to know what thoughts pass through the "mind" of the average Masshole voter! Perhaps the Massholes are under the misapprehension (or not) that Deval is a Kennedy bastard? After all, they have confused "Kerry," and "Kennedy" for years now. I refuse to accept, having met more than my share of Masshole tourists, the "White Guilt" explanation.

I hope you'll join me in pushing Deval for President. He could not be worse than the Mombasa MF and it would have the ancillary bnenefit of getting him out of your state.

stop that@!

NO Patrick! He’s just the kind of slippery slime that would “catch the conscience of the Nation”...

(and he’s an incompetent dumbass... but he’s the right color, and as you point out, he’s obviously Irish..)

He isn’t running for another term (Deval) so he’s out of here in 2014 (or actually early 2015). Maybe he wouldn’t be worse but I can’t take Barack’s voice and I can’t take Deval’s
either.

Well, I am glad to see that you two are able to overcome your understandable natural antipathy toward Deval and do the right thing for this great country of ours. After all, if we have to have an Affirmative Action Anus as President, which seems to be a foregone conclusion, I, staunch Norumbegan Patriot that I am, strongly suggest that we at least get an American Affirmative Action Anus.

Speaking of which, how is the Obama clan faring in the Bay Colony these days? Did we clear up that DUI, that Section 8 problem, that deportation hearing?

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick faces opposition to his plan to overhaul indigent defense

re: Uncle Omar

interesting tidbit from 2/3 -

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=49296

“In another Massachusetts case, Eduardo Alementa Torres, an illegal alien from Mexico, was arrested Sept. 21, while driving with an open beer bottle, racking up his sixth DUI charge. Because Democrats blocked the retroactive language, Torres, and those like him, got a back door amnesty and will start with a new slate. In the case of Torres, he would not face deportation until after his ninth DUI.”

Otherwise, there seems to be a news blackout on Uncle Omar’s status....but while we’re waiting, here’s a good vid for yuhs..

Tanks for the tid-bitt, but if you are trying to distract me from my commitment to Deval Patrick, fuggedaboutit.

The election of Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. (or 2d) is a paradigm changer. He has definitely opened the door; paved the way; set the table; made ready the ground, etc. for a series of totally useless people of minimal Caucasian ancestry to assume the Presidency solely on the basis of skin-color. I am determined not to be left behind or tarred and feathered as a racist.

PS, that Uncle Omar does stretch the looks envelope, doesn't he? Could you possibly get him a suit and tie? It makes us look bad when we deport such a poorly dressed illegal who's lived here for so long.

Probation Dept. teeming with hack scandals
By Howie Carr | Wednesday, February 29, 2012 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Columnists

The feds’ Probation grand jury meets again this morning, and the Bureau of Prisons says Sal DiMasi is still “in transit.”

What happened, Mistah Speakah? Are the latest rumors true — that the G-men just bused you back here to try to stampede more bent State House hacks into spilling the beans, and that they actually succeeded, and at least one more solon panicked and flipped?

Do you think that if he did testify in Worcester, Sal was asked if he knew of any reps who got Probation jobs for the guys who had run against them, so that they wouldn’t challenge them again? Sal, I hear some of those defeated legislative candidates are now up around $102,947 a year. Would you know anything about that?

Whatever’s going on in Worcester, the Probation Department seems as screwed up as ever, and they can’t blame it on guys named O’Brien and Bulger anymore.

A lot of these stories are difficult to track down because everybody in state government is covering each others’ rear ends. What did M. Stanley Dukakis used to say — the fish rots from the head?

In this case, the head is Tim Murray.

Here’s an unsigned note: “Ask the Boston police how angry they were when a probation officer asked them to execute an arrest warrant for a person who had been dead for a year. Even though, per the probation officer’s records, he had been meeting with him while he was dead. Seance, I guess. No reprimand or as you say, ‘Nothing to see here.’”

This writer also says almost everyone who interviewed Probation candidates has been suspended, except one in a “protected class,” another whose wife is a state senator’s chief of staff and one who’s the “right hand” of the new boss.

How about all these little district courts that are being consolidated? Take
the Ipswich District Court. It’s now in the Newburyport District Court building. So is there still a chief probation officer supervising ... two probation officers, and if my 2010 Lawyers’ Diary is still accurate, an associate probation officer?

Gloucester District Court will be the next to go, moving to Salem. In addition to the chief judge and the clerk magistrate, will Gloucester still have a chief probation officer and an assistant chief probation officer supervising ... three probation officers?

Isn’t this a scandal in its own right, all these high-paid Probation hacks tripping over themselves, doing next to nothing? Especially when you see the all-out media blitz about the supposedly inadequate funding of the trial courts, the “draconian” cuts, etc.?

Here’s just one more, from a Worcester whistleblower about a Probation boss: “Normally goes in at around 10:30 a.m. (after her aerobics class) and leaves at around 2 to pick up her kids from school Mon-Thurs. She does not work on Fridays because such would interfere with her aerobic training.”

So now Sal DiMasi is back in transit, the grand jury continues to meet, and it’s still business as usual in the Probation Department. Meet the new hacks, same as the old hacks.

Missed opportunity to feed at the trough
By Howie Carr | Friday, March 2, 2012 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Columnists

I coulda been a contender. I coulda been a hack. I could be retired, long since, living down in Florida on my monthly kiss in the mail.

The fork in the road came in 1980. I was a kid working at Boston City Hall, and one of Mayor White’s guys asked me if I’d ever considered ... well, you know. I guess they needed another guy to write the Globe columnists’ columns about what a great guy Kevin from Heaven was. I haughtily said no.

What did Robert Frost call it? The road not taken. The road that could have been paved with gold, not just for myself, but for my entire family. But I didn’t take it. And that has made all the difference.

Why oh why didn’t I listen to the old-timers who told me, get on the city, or the county, or the state, or the T? Forget the Edison, that’s the Dreaded Private Sector. The DPS is what you want to avoid.

For me, I figure I could have been as obsequious a yes-man as Tom Kinton of Massport. You remember Kinton. He spent his entire “working” life at the Massport trough, walked away last year with a pension of $195,000, plus a one-time payout of $459,616 in, ahem, unused sick days. His final year, he also sold back three, uh, unused vacation weeks for another $17,000.

Why didn’t somebody tell me? That you could just punch a clock, attend the annual popover-eating contests at Anthony’s Pier 4, take off Bunker Hill and Evacuation Day every year and finally ride off into the sunset, saddle bags loaded with gold dust.

And what hurts even more is to know that my family could have had the same life of leisure. Every night on TV this week, you see the porky district attorney of Essex County, Jonathan Blodgett, stammering pathetic excuses. He’s the hack who after the cop shooting last week in Beverly, said, “Nothing to see here folks, move along.”

What a dolt.

But who am I to call him a dolt? He’s making $148,843 a year and is a member of Group 4, which means he can go out anytime on a full pension. (He’s 57.) Then there’s his lovely bride, Judith Blodgett. Care to guess if she works in the public or the Dreaded Private Sector?

That’s right, she works for the state auditor, Suzanne Bump, the woman with the two primary residences (at least for tax purposes). Mrs. Blodgett makes $76,302 a year.

Then there’s the son, Jonathan M. Blodgett. After a nationwide search he’s at, yes, you guessed it, the Probation Department, for $60,642.30 a year.

I coulda been a contendah, instead of what I am, which is a guy who’s gonna have to work till he drops, whose last words will be the plaintive question, “Paper or plastic, Mr. Kinton?”
