.......Newt stays in the race, and occasionally he dazzles. The reason? Gingrichs ability to come up with a salient insight about key issues at least once a week. In other words, he has the vision thing in a race where it is sorely lacking in both parties.
Such was the case this past week at the CNN debate in Mesa, Ariz., where Gingrich honed in on the No. 1 kitchen-table issue facing most Americans at the moment: gas prices that are headed to $5 a gallon and beyond. (On Friday, oil closed at an eye-popping $110 a barrel.)
Gingrich has pivoted to the gasoline-price problem in recent days and is now rolling out a 30-minute ad about his energy policy in advance of Super Tuesday.
But what is brilliant about Gingrichs take isnt his crowd-pleasing bromide about how he will make sure an American president never again has to bow to a Saudi king, but rather his ability to connect the dots between energy independence and our national debt.
In Gingrichs vision, a new gold rush for energy by drilling on-shore and off will mean a flood of money into Uncle Sams coffers in the coming years.
Drill on government-owned land and seas, and its even better for Americas bottom line, according to Gingrich, as the nation reaps trillions in royalties in the process. Tap into our bountiful natural-gas resources, and the virtuous cycle gets even stronger trade and budget deficits shrink, unemployment declines, and the dollar will be almighty once more.
Its the Republicans job to drill these facts home not just to win elections, but to make Americans partners in an energy policy that could end up fixing much of what ails our economy.

Newt Gingrich in Washington State
Thanks for the link. Glad the transcript was also available.
Newt is our only chance.
The others are merely eyewash.

Why we haven’t already nominated this guy, instead of all the attention going to two guys talking about birth control, Satan, and the cars they own, is beyond me.
BTTT!
Go Newt!
In Gingrichs vision, a new gold rush for energy by drilling on-shore and off will mean a flood of money into Uncle Sams coffers in the coming years.
It's the experience/vision thing! :-)
Ditto that.
And that transcript says that Newt "has the right stuff" to rejuvenate the USA, despite his foibles in the past. Neither Romney nor Santorum has anything to match him, either policy-wise or "brain horsepower" wise.
That's what you and I know. Unfortunately, too many think Newt just has gas...
bttt
Media will frame his speech / infomercial as the Lyndon Larouche event of the 2012 cycle.
Drill baby drill, isn’t exactly new or rocket science, but it sure is good to hear a candidate talking about it.
the system is firmly embeded to keep the american workers yoked up and turning the grist mill like the worlds slaves, to pay their ridiculous interest rates and energy fees as well as support the 50% of americans in the welfare class, not to mention the open credit card for the federal government shopping spree, and Newt is just another yapping lap dog to that system, just begging to get petted
True, but you won’t be popular here with those ideas.
any Republican in the exective office will be worlds better than the Obamanation thats in there now. I prefer Newts "read my lips" rhetoric way more than Romneys but its just more used car sales pitch
Id vote Newt over Romney of course but then by the time the primary gets to my state its already decided
Great points!!
Brilliant insight!!
Let’s just all vote for Obama, then, and get it over with.

...from Eeyore the donkey, over and out !
Id vote Newt over Romney of course but then by the time the primary gets to my state its already decided
Yeah, I used to live in PA and by the time May rolled around there was only 1 candidate left and I usually didn’t want him. On the other hand it freed me up to vote 3rd party.
Too Much Political Correctness=A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Lose (Dan Quayle is correct!)
