(Reuters) - Seven U.S. military trainers were wounded on Sunday when a grenade was thrown at their base in northern Afghanistan, police said, as anti-Western fury deepened over the burning of the Koran at a NATO base.

Despite an apology from U.S. President Barack Obama, riots raged across the country for a sixth day on Sunday against the desecration of the Muslim holy book at a NATO air base at Bagram. Some protesters hoisted the white Taliban flag.

The Afghan Interior Ministry identified one of its employees as a suspect in the fatal shooting of two U.S. officers in its headquarters a day earlier, an attack that prompted NATO to recall its staff from ministries.

One civilian was killed, 15 more were wounded and three policemen injured in riots near the NATO base in northern Kunduz province, where the blast that wounded the Americans took place, regional police chief Samihullah Qatra told reporters.

NATO confirmed there had been an explosion outside one of its bases in northern Afghanistan, but declined to comment on casualties.

Look for Obama to use these attacks as a reason to “get out of Afghanistan” to bring our soldiers home safe. In other words, another way to surrender.

Quick, quick, burn a Bible publicly and all will be alright again.

How long before barry comes out and apologizes these soldiers were only wounded and not murdered.

“Despite an apology from U.S. President Barack Obama.”

Correction: “Because of an apology from U.S. President Barack Obama.”

Worst thing he could do. What is the correct way to dispose of a desecrated Koran? I believe it is to burn it. Burning is the proper way, just as it would be with any other object of respect, such as an American flag.

These Korans were already desecrated by terrorist prisoners, who wrote in them—which is not permitted. Probably the Commander should have asked a Muslim Cleric to preside over the burning, but I don’t believe that is required.

Obama should have said that those Korans were already desecrated, and they were burned out of respect for Islamic law and tradition. I’m sure he understand that, having been raised as a Muslim himself.

Our national treasure is dying and wounded over a damn book.

We need to get the hell out of the mid-east and let these animals go at each other. They hit us, we nuke them all. I am sick of this country bowing down to these camel jockey’s.

Can one imagine if it was your child that died over the burning of the koran and all that happened was the President apologized?

” What is the correct way to dispose of a desecrated Koran? I believe it is to burn it.”

It was explained the other day that it’s supposed to be wrapped in pure, clean cloth and then buried where no one will walk & step on it.

Did you know Islam is a religion of peace and mercy?

Did you know that Afghans are our allies?

If we are not willing to kill Muslims in large numbers, we need to get out yesterday. Democracy nation building in Islamic countries is a fools errand. The ground is being fertilized so that Obama can appear a hero when he orders the withdrawal. We lose either way.

They welcome “apologies”. They love to exploit weakness.

One of the complaints is fighting in the rugged F ghanistan terrain. Too many rocks to crawl under. I wish I were in charge. I would set up events all over the country. Koran burnings. Bring them out from under their rocks and get them to group up.

Then hit them with the napalm.

Preferred method is to bury it. You can also throw it in a river. If those aren’t available you can burn it.

This is no way to fight a war.

Wish we could resurrect General Patton.

They seem to want a religious war. Either give them one or get out.

We should tell them we will burn 10 queerans for every American injured and 100 for every one killed.

I agree. And we do lose either way. But I’d rather lose now than later, so let’s get out and save addtional American lives. One American soldier’s life is worth more than all of these ungrateful barbarians.

So I now hear. But I don't think that burying them was an option, if they contain notes and jottings from terrorists. Too easy to dig them back up and pass them along to intended recipients. Maybe they just should have got an Imam to supervise and ensure that things were done acceptably.
