We should NOT have apologised for Koran burning, says Santorum
The Daily Mail ^ | February 26, 2012 | Hannah Roberts and Suzannah Hills

Rick Santorum has condemned President Barack Obama's apology for the burning of Korans at a U.S base in Afghanistan.

The Republican presidential hopeful added that Afghanistan should apologise to the U.S. for the deaths of four U.S. soldiers during six days of violence sparked by the incident.

'There was nothing deliberately done wrong here,' Santorum told ABC's This Week today.

'This was something that happened as a mistake. Killing Americans in uniform is not a mistake. It was something that deliberate.'

Another eight U.S. servicemen were wounded in a grenade attack today in violent protests that have engulfed Afghanistan this week, killing around 30 people. At least two demonstrators were also killed.

'The response needs to be apologized for by (President Hamid) Karzai and the Afghan people for attacking and killing our men and women in uniform and overreacting to this inadvertent mistake,' Santorum explained on NBC's 'Meet the Press'. 'That is the real crime here, not what our soldiers did.'

The president's apology suggests that there is blame and that the U.S. did something wrong 'in the sense of doing a deliberate act,' Santorum said.

Santorum says that rather than saying he was sorry, Obama should have only acknowledged that burning copies of Islam's holiest book in a trash pit was wrong and taken responsibility for the incident, 'but to apologise, I think, lends credibility that somehow or another that it was more than that.'

Santorum is the latest Republican to criticise Obama for apologising for burning the religious materials. Despite apologies from the president and other U.S. officials for what they said was a mistake, their regrets have not quelled the anger of Afghans, who viewed the Quran burnings as an illustration of what they perceive as foreign disrespect for their culture and religion.

Of course it could never happen in this PC day and age, but if it upsets them so, maybe a thousand Korans fed to pigs for each American harmed may get their attention.

Enough of this winning hearts and mind mush. Make it so none will want to step foot in a civilized country.

He expresses himself very poorly. But aside from that, I guess after Gingrich (and possibly Paul, IIRC) said this yesterday or even the day before, Ricky finally felt it was safe to venture his own remarks.

You sure got that right. Newt has been talking about this for 3 or 4 days now. Little Ricky just now saw it as a campaign issue?

Rick and Mitt are plagiarists, except by the time they latch on to one of NEWTs IDEAs, Newt is off dropping another bomb. Takes awhile until they know what that bomb means though. rofl

It will be fun on FR to watch people have to drop the mildly detractory “little” before “Rick” as his delegate total increases from Michigan, and then on to the next round of states as the clear leader of the anti-Romney forces, raking in even more delegates and extending his lead as the chief anti-RINO/anti-Establishment GOP candidate. I will relish seeing this. Most of us have held our restrained tongues to keep from referring to “fat” or “pudgy” or “doughboy thighs” in reference to other GOP candidates running who certainly could be made fun of. In fact, if memory serves me correct, Santoru is in fact almost as tall as Romney and certainly taller than Gingrich and Paul. How’s that workin’ out for you?

Looking back, it was a mistake. I'm not a big Rick fan, but he is correct. He's just a little late to the Party.

The only “mistake” was letting those barbarian animals find the charred remains—which makes me wonder if this is not one big ol’ setup. What better anti-American PR stunt to get the Koranimals all lathered up than a few barbequed Korans “conveniently” found by some Afghan “workers” in the “trash” at Bagram?

First President to repeat “the Holy Qur'an tells us,” and openly admit “the early morning call of the Azan (Islamic call to worship) is the most beautiful sound on earth.”

“Little Ricky just sounds so cute.”

Truthfully it sounds asinine, but it will be fun watching the bunch of you come around after he wins the nomination.

I wish Newt would face facts and drop out. He’s the unelectable one.

Yes, I stay out of the loop for days at a time for sanity’s sake so I hadn”t heard that. But anyway, Hussein will just dismiss anything Newt says as “campaining” when it’s something he doesn’t want to do anyway. He a
ready tunes out, dismisses, closes his ears to anyone who opposes him, including Americans on ObamaCare, drilling, the Catholic Church. He doesn’t even care if everyone knows he’s arrogantly being a king instead of a public servant That’s his intention.

How can he close ears that size?

Truthfully though, burning the koran makes me uneasy. Burning any book does. It reminds me too much of another person who burned books.

Yeah, Farenheit 451 was one book that scared the everloving cr*p out of me as a child.
