Thousands of Russians joined hands to form a human chain around Moscow city centre on Sunday in protest against Vladimir Putin's likely return as president in an election next week.
The protesters stood side by side around the wide 16-km (10-mile) Moscow Garden Ring Road in gently falling snow, many of them wearing the white ribbons that symbolize the biggest opposition protests since Putin rose to power 12 years ago.

This was thoughtful of the organizers. It will make it easier for the Cossacks to manacle them all together.

They said they had 40,000 show up. Cops claimed it was 11,000. If it was ten miles long, the cops were telling one.
The cops are probably a lot closer...4.8 feet per person...
