Well, to be fair, the Toronto police did find a gun in Jessie Sansone’s house after they arrested, strip-searched, and held him for hours, after which they pressured him to retroactively consent to their ransacking his house without a warrant. It was a toy gun:
"Jessie Sansone and his family are reeling after he was arrested and strip searched by police after his four-year-old daughter drew a picture of a man with a gun in her Kitchener, Ont., kindergarten class."
"The 26-year-old father of four said Saturday the sketch was supposed to be him, getting the bad guys and monsters."
"The school must have thought differently, as after Nevaeh drew it Wednesday, the school contacted Family and Children’s Services and they called police."
"Waterloo Police met Sansone at the school when he tried to pick up his kids he was told he was charged with possession of a firearm. He was then handcuffed and put him in one of the several squad cars waiting outside, he said."
"While Sansone was being strip searched at the police station: told to disrobe, lift his testicles and bend over, his wife was home with their 15-month-old daughter."
“They came to my house, told my wife that I had been charged with possession of firearms, that she would have to come with them, and that Sundae (their infant daughter) would have to go with the social worker,” said Sansone. Stephanie called her Mom who rushed over to take Sundae instead. …"
"Sansone said police searched his house and found a plastic toy gun that shoots foam darts."

Haven’t heard the other side of the story.
My guess is the rest of the story is the teacher is a radical communist who hates anyone who owns a gun. She used her position of power over the tiny child to abuse her and she lucked out and got some cops who can’t stand that someone else have any power except themselves and used the opportunity to vent their rage against gun owners, even if pretend gun owners.
In a just world, the teacher and cops would be given long prison terms to think about the extreme harm they had done to a child and her parents.

“Are we now to fear our children might cause our arrest, detention and humiliation because of an all-too-innocent sketch, dream or story told around the Kool Aid stand?”

“Despite never owning a gun, my 4-year-old tells everyone that we hunt dinosaurs. Thankfully, he is not enroled in the Waterloo District School Board, where no doubt I would have been arrested for possession of a firearm and animal cruelty.”

And Canadians should stop living in a dream that they live in a free country and start fighting to change the reality that their at the mercy of their government.
It is absolutely sickening to read how easy it is to take children away in Canada or have someone arrested,yet Canadians act as if everything happens for a reason and the gov is just taking precautions.That this thing just doesn’t happen to them.
Based on the dad's picture, I would have believed it if the article said his name was mohammed.
His last name is Sansone. I would guess that’s an Italian name.
not all.. after all they did vote for a Conservative parliamentary majority, resulting in the Harper government.
They found several more illicit drawings of guns hidden on his person.
The story is about finding a gun. They expect to find one tucked in his butt? The only rational explanation is the Waterloo Police are homosexuals'
There is, the "gun" turned out to be a toy, that shoots soft darts.. like a Nerf gun. The school authorities and the police went berserk over Nerf pistol.
OTOH, many schools in the US would do the same, if a 4 year old (and I know what they are like, I have 4 y/o granddaughters) told them that "Daddy has a gun" and "doesn't lock it up" and if the kid actually brought the nerf pistol to class.. well all hell would break loose. Well, maybe not in those parts of Texas outside the big metro areas. :) There the response would be, "so?"
