Police, Border Patrol, other agencies looking to expand drone use at home
Associated Press ^ | February 26, 2012 | unknown

Heads up: Drones are going mainstream.

Civilian cousins of the unmanned military aircraft that have tracked and killed terrorists in the Middle East and Asia are in demand by police departments, border patrols, power companies, news organizations and others wanting a bird's-eye view that's too impractical or dangerous for conventional planes or helicopters to get.

Along with the enthusiasm, there are qualms.

Drones overhead could invade people's privacy. The government worries they could collide with passenger planes or come crashing down to the ground, concerns that have slowed more widespread adoption of the technology.

Despite that, pressure is building to give drones the same access as manned aircraft to the sky at home.

"It's going to be the next big revolution in aviation. It's coming," says Dan Elwell, the Aerospace Industries Association's vice president for civil aviation.

Some impetus comes from the military, which will bring home drones from Afghanistan and wants room to test and use them. In December, Congress gave the Federal Aviation Administration six months to pick half a dozen sites around the country where the military and others can fly unmanned aircraft in the vicinity of regular air traffic, with the aim of demonstrating they're safe.

This IS coming - and faster than anyone might think. The day will come soon that you'll have police, or federal authorities knocking on your door. My bet, anyway...

Tell me again. Why do we hold police and border patrol on a pedastal? Why are they given a separate class, a higher status than citizens?

“Two-and-a-half years from now, in early 2009, the Census Bureau plans to send an army of 100,000 temporary workers down every street and dusty, dirt road in America. They will be armed with handheld GPS devices. Robert LaMacchia, head of the Census Bureau’s geography division, says they’ll capture the latitude and longitude of the front door of every house, apartment and improvised shelter they find. ‘We will actually knock on doors and look for hidden housing units,’ he says. ‘We will find converted garages; from the outside, it may not look like anybody lives there.’ But census workers will add each dwelling, legal or not, to the Census Bureau’s Master Address File. Recent proposed budget cuts have put part of this plan in jeopardy. But if Congress restores the money, the census will end up with the geographic coordinates — accurate to within 10 feet — for about 110 million residences.”

Several defense contractors were awarded contracts to help carry out this operation in the US.

From a $500 Million dollar contract awarded to Lockheed Martin, , to HARRIS who supplied the GPS handheld devices used by census workers.

Boys with their toys intruding on our rights. Contractors bribing politicians for our tax dollars. Privatizing functions that are paid by taxes is the root of the problems. Everyone involved ends up on the take except the taxpayers who get stiffed.

Unless these things operate at very high altitudes, it seems like they would conflict with VFR General Aviation.

Operation #EFAD

Freeper Travis McGee (Matt Bracken) has written several fictional books exploring the increasing militarization of America via the ATF, Homeland Security, etc.http://www.enemiesforeignanddomestic.com/index.htm

Life is imitating art with undercover operations to:
deny Americans their 2nd Amendment rights (Fast and Furious),
violation of unlawful search and seizure by TSA agents against innocent American citizens at airports,
recent passage of bills to allow U.S. Citizens to be indefinitely detained (NDAA)
and the recent passage of laws allowing unmanned drones on U.S. soil against U.S. citizens as reflected in this article
Among many others.

Travis McGee’s books explore all of these themes and show how America is becoming a police state with no outrage from the press which should be on our side in the struggle for freedom from oppression.

Click on the link http://www.enemiesforeignanddomestic.com/EFADcomm.htm to learn more about operation #EFAD which will use modern tools such as Twitter, Facebook, etc to publicize a day of FREE DOWNLOADS of Travis’ first book. The plan is to get his book #1 on Kindle downloads. This will cause so much “buzz” that the mainstream media is FORCED to talk about these issues and operations, especially Fast and Furious, which the media have criminally covered up even though they are much worse than Watergate.

This is a way of bringing needed news of to our present day countrymen just as the Committees of Correspondence did in Colonial pre-revolutionary America http://www.ushistory.org/us/10c.asp
I find it interesting that in colonial times, much of the leadership in the resistance came from actual elected state and local leaders, as well as preachers (it was not just random individuals taking the law into their own hands). The citizens of the various states elected men of honor and statesmenship that cared more about defending liberty than for their own fortunes.

My prayer is that we can raise awareness of the silent, deadly loss of our liberties among the country as a whole, so that our fellow citizens will elect men of honor to set us back on the right course before it is too late to resolve peacefully. Maybe operation EFAD# will be one small step in that direction.

“The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, north of Houston, used a Department of Homeland Security grant to buy a $300,000, 50-pound ShadowHawk helicopter drone for its SWAT team. The drone has a high-powered video camera and an infrared camera that can spot a person’s thermal image in the dark...

The ShadowHawk can be equipped with a 40 mm grenade launcher and a 12-guage shotgun, according to its maker, Vanguard Defense Industries of Conroe, Texas.”

If you ain’t worried, you should be. They won’t send troops to take you out, they’ll just do it from the sky.

95% of Americans love it. The left has their "living Constitution" "conservatives" yap, "The Constitution is not a suicide pact!" So, the Constitution is dead. Democracy killed it.

I used to think those polls showing Russians as nostalgic for Stalin were commie propaganda. But, they're real. And we are the same way.
