Yep. They only lasted another 300 years after that.
Too bad we don’t have old Stonewall (or Patton) running today’s army instead of a bunch of political hacks.
Yeah, yeah, yeah...then everyone starting bellyaching about the table wiper who was making $60,000 per year. Soon after, all the American staff was terminated in favor of TCN's from south Asia who would do the job for $12,000 per year.
Our folks caught them doing all kinds of sick things to our food.
Believe it or not, but I caught American DFAC staff doing the same crap.
I guess I should have been more clear.
I didn’t think that there would be someone on FR so “concerned” about the welfare of our troops in the field that they would go about trying to bitch smack someone relating an actual experience.
We had a field kitchen brought in. U.S. military folks.
Outside of Preventative Med personnel, I haven’t seen military in DFAC’s since Bosnia. It’s always been contractors and local nationals, even on the MKT’s.
Desert Shield/Desert Storm and just before the huge post “Cold War” drawdown. Still had active duty, NG and reservists doing most of what contractors do now.
We had ICN’s and TCN’s doing a lot of the “service” related stuff when we initially arrived in country as the airlift capability was being used for more important cargo.
I’ve never “bitched” about contractors doing what they do. Maybe I “envied” them for making the $$s, until I learned more about what they did.
But we all choose our path.
In the case of Afghanistan, I still say that the ICN’s and TCN’s don’t belong inside the wire where they can wreak havoc.
