Gingrich has Gold Dome "homecoming" (Newt: "We will win Ga decisively")
AJC ^ | 2-29-12 | Malloy

Newt Gingrich never served under the Gold Dome, but greeted plenty of old friends as he made his way through the state house Wednesday morning, describing it as “a real homecoming.”

Gingrich is in the midst of a campaign swing through Georgia ahead of the state’s March 6 primary, a crucial day for a campaign desperately in need of a win.

“We’re going to win Georgia and win it decisively,” Gingrich said....

Gingrich met with Deal as well as Georgia House Speaker David Ralston and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle. Ralston has not endorsed a candidate and Cagle had backed Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who dropped out of the race in January and endorsed Gingrich.....

Gingrich addressed the House then reporters for about 10 minutes each, stressing the trio of issues he is using as a cudgel against President Barack Obama: Gas prices, religious liberty and the president’s apology for American soldiers’ burning of Korans in Afghanistan.

He told legislators the federal government should consider allowing drilling for natural gas off the Georgia coastline. Gingrich said the royalties can be used to expand the Port of Savannah....

The Gingrich campaign believes that Santorum – who lately rocketed to the lead in national polls – will fall after losing Michigan, where he was tripped up by off-message comments on social issues and pounding from Romney and others on Santorum's lapses from hard-edged conservatism in the Senate.

Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond predicted that Southern voters in particular – Georgia and Tennessee both vote on Super Tuesday – will not like Santorum’s pro-union votes, and that his star will quickly fade, giving Gingrich another opportunity for resurrection.

Santorum, Hammond said, “had his shot at the title."

Newt clearly more confident- things breaking positive. Rick made a couple of major lasting mis-steps, that Romney will pound on in Ohio. Rick is Newt’s main competition in the South- and hopefully, Romney's attacks will bring Rick's popularity down.

The sooner Ga is safely in Newt’s column, he can make more effort in Tenn.-Okl- Idaho- Ohio.... For Newt, Super Tuesday could be the equivalent of Rick’s 3 state win. Meanwhile, imo, Newts PAC is doing him no favors. IMO, the recent Romney “animation” ad is just STUPID and a waste of Adelson’s money; it almost makes one feel sorry for Mitt ( if that’s possible). . It’s a 1 minute ad- with Romney in a waiting room with a number- i.e., he’s waiting his turn for the GOP-e nomination. Well, we know that! Everybody does. Waste of money and time.

All in all, Newt will rise again.

“All in all, Newt will rise again. “

I am hoping so, he is the best candidate left standing, I think, although I’d wave a magic wand and make some changes if I could.

***Rick is Newt’s main competition in the South- and hopefully, Romney’s attacks will bring Rick’s popularity down.***

This really has been a media driven, puff-laden popularity contest - based on good hair and fashion choices....nothing substantive.

If the candidates had remained anonymous and judged only on proposals, principles and common sense solutions (rather than personal attacks and physical appearance ie.Romney’s hair, Santorum’s youth) there would be no contest.

Newt has no competition in intellect and the capacity to be pro-active rather than reactive. A shepherd not a sheep.

Gingrich spoke Wednesday at the Georgia Statehouse in Atlanta, where he predicted he will win Georgia’s primary and, in his words, “win it decisively.” He was joined by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal.

Just like Romney did yesterday. It is expected. Why this is so surprising is a mystery. Do people think a guy that lived in the state 20 years was going to lose? Now the important question is, what other states will he win that day or is this all he needs to be considered a success?

well Napster- for Newt supporters- it was touch and go for a bit. I believe Ras had a poll almost in the MOE— So, perhaps you thought it was in the bag- but even Newt was saying he might lose it.

His current statement makes us more positive and optimistic- I’m sure you understand. -:)

Newt will win Georgia. Even I would bet on that. lol. My interest is if he will win any more on Super Tuesday. He put all his eggs in Super Tuesday so he needs to win 8 to have that strategy to work.

He will win 5....Tenn, Ohio, ND, Idaho and Oklahoma. Romney will actually win two Mass and Vermont. Newt is going to win Georgia. Paul will win Virginia.

Five. So Newt has to win 8, but Rick has a lesser hurdle. -:)
That’s fine, only kidding. We have your predictions, let’s see how you do.

Myself, I have no means to conjecture who wins what- but, I’m pretty certain that Romney goes after Rick hard on (1) robocalls to Dems: and JFK church/state. If Rick can withstand the assault- then, you may well end up right in your predictions.

I sincerely wish you luck, Naps.

Go Newt. The only candidate with a plan to hit the ground running on day one and restore the constitutional republic.
