Just about buy a New 47MLB (47ft Motor Life Boat) just like the USCG uses at Cape Disappointment. Although then the deputies wouldn’t have an excuse to stay ashore in 6ft seas.

Assuming they aren’t hiring retired Surfmen to run the boat. Probably could get away with a $200k, 25ft RBS.

The boat would be larger, faster and have more advanced technology than The Reliance, the department’s last boat, which sank in July.

Hopefully it will be unsinkable also.......

Our (former) Sheriff had a boat for the department. He decided that it was more useful as a personal fishing boat. He’s not Sheriff anymore.

Our county bought the sheriff a landing craft in case the bridge to the peninsula goes out.

Good buy.
