This would be the same amendment thats co-sponsored by presumptive VP nominee Marco Rubio. Another damaging stumble the morning after a big primary victory? Sure sounds like it, says lefty Greg Sargent, citing an Ohio TV reporter:
""I just got off the phone with [ONN-TV's Jim] Heath, and he graciously played me the audio. Heath asks Romney if hes for the Blunt-Rubio amendment, and defines it. Romney replies:
Im not for the bill. But, look, the idea of presidential candidates getting into questions about contraception within a relationship between a man and a woman, husband and wife, Im not going there.
"Thats pretty remarkable. If Romney knew what he was saying, the Senate GOP caucus, which is set to vote on this amendment tomorrow, may feel as if Romney has pulled the rug out from underneath them. And this has become an important issue for conservatives. So itll be interesting to see how the base reacts to this, particularly since the GOP primary is anything but over and Rick Santorum whos perceived as a more reliable social conservative is likely to use this to attack Romney, who will be under continued pressure to connect with social and religious conservatives.""

HE’S DONE! Get rid of this clown.

I think Romney wants the presidency, but he doesn’t really know why he wants it.
Like a dog chasing cars wouldn’t know what to do with one if he ever caught it.

So he tries to use the question to bash Santorum, and it smacks him in the face. Mitt thought he could just repeat his “contraception is working just fine” remark. Whoops. I guess he’s not really focused on the issues.
Establishment is already completely covering for him.
That happens when a politician wants to win, for the sake of winning and not because he’s principled.
Here Mr. Romney step on this here rake.
Not ready, never will be. Sure it might be a misunderstanding under pressure along with all the rest. Do we want someone this dense and easily confused to be chewed up and spit out by the Obama/Demoratic Media Machine?? Dangerous candidate.
Romney is walking this back now, according to Allahpundit over at hotair.com.
Seems he thought the reporter was asking about the Ohio bill, whatever that is, and the reporter threw in the Rubio name with Blunt which is incorrect, he explains.
Romney was ill informed when he got the question and confused it with Rubio, who is offering his own bill, separate from Blunt.
He is only walking this back after it hit the fan. A candidate had better know what this issue is about. From the video, I got the impression Milt knew what the question was and gave us a moment of RINO candor.
Boy, Howie Carr sure has his lips attached to his backside.
Pray for America
So does Allahpundit.
It makes Romney unhappy when you mention dogs and cars.
I agree with you Lazlo, but this isn’t the first time a candidate missed the news cycle entirely. I know it seems unbelievable, but I’m just sayin’.
I don’t really think Romney would blow himself up like this over an obvious winning bill for Republicans coming to the floor, if he knew about it, do you? I dunno. He is a bull in the china closet so often, that I just don’t know.
Delighted, however, to see him step on his tongue again though! LOL! What a dunder head, huh? Sheesh.
That clown is cruising to the nomination.
Romney thought it was doing it a favour, since dogs like sticking their heads out of windows for an oxygen rush.
You can’t get much more of a rush than being strapped on the roof of a car.
Reagan Rule applies here. Either the MSM is full of sh!t, or it isn't.
What a coincidence!
*YAWN* Romney lies again. He knows full well the original question wasn't about some piece of Ohio legislation.
