Tensions Raise Specter of Gas at $5 a Gallon
New York Times ^ | 2/29/12 | Clifford Krauss

Houston - Gasoline for $5 a gallon? The possibility is hardly far-fetched. With no clear end to tensions with Iran and Syria and rising demand from countries like China, gas prices are already at record highs for the winter months — averaging $4.32 in California and $3.73 a gallon nationally on Wednesday, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report. As summer approaches, demand for gasoline rises, typically pushing prices up around 20 cents a gallon. And gas prices could rise another 50 cents a gallon or more, analysts say, if the diplomatic and economic standoff over Iran’s nuclear ambitions escalates

I would reserve the appellation of "hardly far-fetched" for $10 a gallon. $5 seems a certainty.

If it would GUARANTEE that Obama would never be elected to anything in his life, I wouldn’t care if it went to $10 per gallon. That Bstard has to go, one way or another.

Obama wants to push wind, solar, anything but drilling.

Obama makes a false premise, when he says there is no “silver bullet” solution to our energy problems. That’s true in a way, but does the lack of a silver bullet mean we should NOT take steps we know will help solve the problem?

Obama makes another false premise, when he says we can’t drill our way out of this. I don’t know if that’s true or not, HOWEVER, even if drilling isn’t a “silver bullet” solution, does he mean we shouldn’t do any drilling at all??????

And then assorted liberals tell us that it takes years to develop oil fields, even if we started tomorrow. Yet they have blockaded development for years. If we had started years ago in some places, these fields would be on line today.

I understand that much of the new drilling in North Dakota is on private land, done without public subsidy or public control. Maybe that’s our energy future right there, letting the private sector operate without federal interference.

I care if it goes that high. The mister probably wouldn’t have a job if it persisted and we couldn’t afford every other thing that will shoot sky-high along with 5.00-10.00 gas.

Your making my blood boil now, lol. Boehner???? We are in such deep trouble, and no "they" do not give a chit.

In fact they want an obama lite romney. There is more going on than meets our eyes, we know it when we feel it, just can't tell all the ramifications of it. The whos, whys, when and what fors. This river runs deep on both sides.

We can only vote and hope a new Congress & President will lead us out. We've just got to hang on a little while longer, Hope is on the Way. I hope.

It is in this election or it's over for good. I am with NEWT.

I really think Obama and his ilk have something big up their sleeve that guarantees he wins even if gas was $10.00 a gallon. I don’t know what it is but I think this group of Marxists or whatever they are, feel like they are so close that they can put a stake in America’s heart they can taste it they will do anything to achieve their goals. Scares me a little bit to tell you the truth

Once Obama is out of office, which I see as an inevitably, and Newt Gingrich leads a charge of real Constitutional Conservatives, our energy policy will return to sanity. An aggressive policy of domestic drilling accompanied by the elimination of the EPA and other agencies promulgating crippling regulations will yield plentiful, cheap gasoline.

Go Newt Go! American Exceptionalism and Might are on the way starting in January 2013. Good times for our country and perilous times for our enemies are ahead.

Later this year, we will be wishing for $5.00 per gallon gas.

I have to agree with you, something is definately in the works, or feels like it. Thinking in the area of what Israel may do, and the consequences of that. No telling what that bstard in the WH would do to us.

Reason I think we feel this way is they are making no bones about wanting the price of fuel to go sky high, they are flounting it in our faces and that is scary. More restrictions coming our way, at least we would be restricted from moving around, no food, no nothing. Shades of N. Korea.

This election can't come quick enough for me.

We've always had high gas prices, lately it's at $4.479 but that's just today. It's been rising 3 cents/gal/day. But we ought to look on this as just another of our Feckless Leader's campaign promises coming to fruition.

Think of the number of 'Shovel Ready Jobs' that will be made available.
