Fear grow of Israel-Iran missile shootout
MSNBC ^ | 2/29/2012 | Robert Windrem

With tensions between Israel and Iran running sky high over the latter's nuclear program, U.S. officials and military analysts are growing increasingly concerned that Israel will launch a multi-phase air and missile attack that could trigger waves of retaliatory missile strikes from Tehran.

Such a shootout could quickly spiral into a regional conflict that would potentially force the U.S. to intervene to protect its interests.

The emerging consensus among current and former U.S. officials and other experts interviewed by NBC News is that that an Israeli attack would be a multi-faceted assault on key Iranian nuclear installations, involving strikes by both warplanes and missiles. It could also include targeted attacks by Israeli special operations forces and possibly even the use of massive explosives-laden drones, they say.

The sooner it starts, the better.

Wait too long and the struggle against islam will become more lethal. We have fiddled long enough since the 7th century. This time the outcome will be final.

The first time, Israel wins. The second time, they get slaughtered, according to the Bible. I think the first war’s coming up fast, take care.

Obama is frozen in fear of:
...waves of retaliatory missile strikes from Tehran.

And losing political capital.

He wants to decide: "Not Present," and take the world with him.

Vote Newt.. I did.

As if Israel was “as much” “in the wrong”, psycho inventing others as enemies or inferiors to get rid of.

Who needs enemies with liberal mind projecting poison of genocide.

Zero and Iran are two peas in a pod. It’s like with Bin Laden, Iran will have to be removed by him because the similarities are too striking and revealing for the final ploy on America.

Short story/Fiction by Dan Simmons that contains more potential ‘truth’ than many would like to believe. Very much worth the read.

Shoot out? The big question is who will run out of missiles and targets first? Israel might have more missiles but there are more targets in Iran. And then, the side that is running low will be tempted to be the first to use a WMD warhead.

As long as it doesn’t cost the USA treasury, drastically affect the price of gas, negatively affect the USA economy, or involve our treasury, military or young people, I really don’t care what Israel does.

Those politicians who are chaffing at the bit to get the USA involved need to suit up, and/or deploy their family, and then pay the additional taxes needed to cover the costs. But we know in the USA (the nation of zero political accountability), that won’t happen. Politicians will send others off to war and will put it on credit cards. They want regime change and to rebuild other countries while our own goes to hxll.

It does seem highly likely that Israel can target virtually any Arab state and Iran with long-range missiles and deliver nuclear strikes using such missiles as well as by air using air-to-surface missiles. Another plus is that Israel has GPS guidance on the missiles. They want to check their frequencies in case of spoofing before launch. Another plus that Israel enjoys is that they enjoy DSP satellite early warning system. They will be able to detect an Iranian launch.

The Israelis are also have their spy satellites.Israel launched its first intelligence satellite on April 5, 1995, covering Syria, Iran, and Iraq in orbit every 90 minutes. The Ofeq 3 satellite is a 495-pound system launched using the Shavit 1 launch rocket and is believed to carry an imagery system. Its orbit passes over or near Damascus, Tehran, and Baghdad. They will be able to detect missiles being placed into launching positions.
