FAIRBANKS Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich on Wednesday told Alaskans that, if elected, he would disassemble the Environmental Protection Agency and sign hundreds of executive orders to open up drilling on Alaska lands with the goal of lowering the price of a gallon of gas to $2.50.
With less than a week before the states Republicans hold their presidential preference poll, the former speaker of the U.S. House talked energy and resource development during a conference call organized by the nonpartisan Consumer Energy Alliance-Alaska.
Without going into much detail about his Alaska-specific plans, Gingrich said he plans to lower prices at the pump by developing the countrys resources.
He said he would have hundreds of executive orders ready to sign to authorize the Keystone XL Pipeline, relax standards in the Gulf of Mexico and open up drilling in known areas in Alaska that are not legally bound by Congress. Gingrich did not elaborate on what areas he had in mind.
Gingrich largely railed against the EPA and other federal agencies, blaming bureaucratic red tape for locking up resources.
I think we have to replace it, I dont think you can fix it, I dont think you can retrain them, he said. The EPA wouldve probably blocked the Wright brothers from inventing the airplane on the grounds of they havent thoroughly studied noise pollution for jet engines.
He said he would replace the EPA with what he called the Environmental Solutions Agency, which would keep economic and business-oriented development in mind.
The organizers also said they planned to host a conference call with former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.
On Tuesday, Alaska Republicans will participate in a poll to determine how 24 of Alaskas 27 delegates to the national convention will distribute their votes among the presidential candidates. For times and locations, visit alaskarepublicans.com.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Go, Newt.
Call to Conscience PDF of letter and information sent to news organizations re Romney ads and his lies.
Build a natural gas pipeline and immediately look into creating the industry of LNG vehicles, conversions for Joe and Jane that will allow them to take natural gas from the pipe at home, compress it and to use that in the family car.
Duh
by trying to destroy his opponents; not by differences in policy ideas.
Newt is doing a good job getting all these headlines out. He’s building up his own momentum.
Fox and Friends had a very interesting interview on this a couple of days ago.
Great idea. Even if implimented on a small basis (fleet vehicle terminals with ‘stations’ along Interstate routes and such) it would be a plus overall. But even this would depend solely on him dismantling the EPA as they would forever block it in eco reviews.
In his hundreds of ExecOrders, he needs to make one declaring American oil/gas/whatever production a national security issue and place the offices under the DOD.
EVERY effort must be made to ‘Newter’ the eco groups, up to and including jailing them for any attempt to stop or hinder energy production.
Ah, you have been reading my post! You Rascal :-0!
Yes, he may have to convince the States and or Local Muni's that the home based compression refill systems for cars have come a long way since some blew up and killed people and nixed these devices in many States. Perhaps by Exec Order? I think that one is a stretch.
However, their is a great deal of movement in the LPG arena.
* Clean Energy will work w/ 3M on lighter tanks.
* Westport (LPG Injectors) has signed an undisclosed Diesel Engine Manufacture for serial Production Engines.
* The Clean Energy 150 LPG Stations at "Pilot" Truck Stops.
And the list goes on and on. The point being even the Eco-Greenies and the NYT's had an Article that Fracking is here and the Watermelons can't do a flippin' thing about it and they know it and they are trying to weasel their way into a control position. Frig-um. I hope Newt pursues a scorched earth policy and gives them no quarter.
I think we have to replace it, I dont think you can fix it, I dont think you can retrain them, he said. The EPA wouldve probably blocked the Wright brothers from inventing the airplane on the grounds of they havent thoroughly studied noise pollution for jet engines.
Love this quote. How could even the most environmentally brainwashed enviroweenie not see the wisdom in that statement?
LLS
Also being used (that I'm aware of) in the Houston area on school buses (have their own LPG station) and also city vehicles in that district.
“The EPA wouldve probably blocked the Wright brothers from inventing the airplane on the grounds of they havent thoroughly studied noise pollution for jet engines.
Loved the quote as well, but as a historian [which i am not], i don’t believe the Wright brothers plane was powered by jet engines. Yet, that small detail probably wouldn’t have mattered to the enviro-nazis who infest our government, academia, and the MSM.
The only way to get an “executive order” like Gingrich has proposed is for EVERY single voter in this country to vote for him. We need someone with some backbone.
LNG is useful for fleet vehicles and has been in use for a few years in selected applications.

But LNG is not a good choice for residential use. Handling and maintain -260°F is not for the home user. CNG fits the bill in that area.

The home refuel option needs to be improved from the choices on the market today.
Honda does not recommend home refueling at this time. Moisture and contaminants in some natural gas supplies in the U.S. can damage the fuel system. If you choose to install a home refueling device, consult with the equipment manufacturer and local natural gas contractor to determine if the fuel quality dispensed into your vehicle can meet industry standards. See your Honda Civic Natural Gas dealer for details.
LOL. Hell they would still be studying the effect on polar bears.
