Mayor Bloomberg criticizes Virginia repeal of 20-year-old gun law

Mayor Bloomberg blasted Virginia’s repeal of a 20-year-old law restricting handgun buyers to one pistol a month, saying Wednesday that it’s “only going to make matters worse” in New York.

Bloomberg, one of the country’s top advocates for tough gun laws, said dismantling the law will enhance Virginia’s reputation as the gun-running capital of the East Coast.

“Virginia is the No. 1 out-of-state source of crime guns in New York, and one of the top suppliers of crime guns nationally,” Bloomberg said.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell signed the law repealing the gun limit on Tuesday, a day after the nation’s latest school shooting spree left three students dead in Ohio.

Bloomberg predicted the repeal will only lead to more bloodshed on the streets of cities throughout the Northeast. In the past two months, two NYPD cops have been shot with illegal guns from Virginia

My only objection the the act repealing the law is that it was not named, "The Michael Rubens Bloomberg 2nd Amendment Restoration Act of 2012". In my opinion, Virginia and the rest of the 10 Amendment Bill of Rights states should put the meddling mayor's name on ALL pro-gun legislation.

They ought to make it illegal to sell more than one gun a month to criminals in NYC. /S

With a concealed carry permit, one was allowed to buy more than one a month.

Being a proud gun owner from VA, reading this article and knowing Bloomberg is upset just brings warm feelings to my heart.

(does that make me a “terrorist”?)

Yep. We’re all terrorists now. ;-)

STFU Bloomberg. I think you have enough messes of your own to fix without criticizing us.

Guns are not the problem.
The problem is “Crime cars”.
To fight crime, “crime cars” must be banned.

Any make and model of motor vehicle used by criminals MUST be banned and confiscated by our Government, and all manufacture of any motor vehicle used to aid and abet criminal behavior MUST be made illegal!!!!

To include public transportation makes and models.

Also to include air transportation vehicles used by criminals, such as the 9/11 murderers and other criminal hyjackers.

Enough is enough! BAN CRIME VEHICLES NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s not Virginia’s fault that New York only allows criminals to own fire arms.

Mikey needs to focus on NYC and mind his own business. I do agree with the name of “The Michael Rubens Bloomberg 2nd Amendment Restoration Act of 2012”. Pretty hilarious.

FUMRB !

Personally, I think if you’re going to have a “Michael Rubens Bloomberg Act”, you should go for the gold. Throw in all the following:

1) Gun rights.
2) Lowering the tax on cigarettes, and returning the right of setting smoking policies to business owners.
3) As long as food and drink are generally regarded as not immediately lethal, it can be sold and consumed at will. Including if it is salty or pate.
4) A resolution encouraging liberty and freedom from “neurotic” government over-regulation.

As a New Yorker, I couldn’t agree more. Most violent thugs who commit murders and other violent crimes in NYC already had serious criminal records but were given light sentences or probation.

We need more jail cells to hold the thugs, judges willing to put them there, parole boards willing to keep them there, and more armed, law-abiding citizens to protect the community from them, not more gun laws.

Criminals will always get their hands on guns. Even if all the guns in the USA were somehow confiscated and destroyed, criminals would come up with all types of lethal weapons. Have you ever seen what is turned up when they do cell searches in prisons?

The only question is whether we want to the criminals to have ALL the weapons or if we want to give law-abiding citizens a fighting chance.

Bloomberg best watch where he lands from now on. We don't have an easy to bully Democrat anymore ~ we have a Crazy Republican (he's backing Romney to the hilt) and he might well bust you and your body guards as you try to get on the Dulles tollroad to DC. And there's a part of Virginia you have to cross to get out of National as well.

Hizhonor was caught gunrunning before, and he can get caught again.

When ever Bloomberg and his security arrive in any state his security needs to be arrested for illegal carrying of a firearm, thrown in jail and treated they same way gun owners are in New York City. Bloomberg needs to be detained, questioned, re-questioned and harassed to no end before being released. See how the Nanny likes taking a little of his own medicine.
