Modesto police are investigating if there's a criminal case against a former high school teacher who resigned his job to move into an apartment with an 18-year old girl he met while teaching.
James Hooker, 41, was placed on administrative leave Feb. 3 by Modesto City Schools and resigned less than three weeks later, according to a report at the Modesto Bee.

You’re right, but that was de-criminalized when one of our former presidents molested an intern with a cigar. He was the head of our armed forces (where that would have cost him his job), but it was broomed under the carpet (and twisted into a “private matter”, though it came out in a sexual harassment lawsuit that cost him $890K to settle and cost him his law license for 5 years).

No. That’s delusion. I’m more like the kind that says “oh, you want to take my land and change America? Come on over here and try to take it. But you don’t see the difference, do you “mate.”
My problem with the teacher in this case is the dishonesty.

I hate to see divorce when children are involved.
If it MUST come to that, then it should come honestly, instead of one party continuing to lie about how they no longer feel towards their spouse, until its convenient; spending months or years lying until they find a new partner, and then springing the news (the lie) that had they not found their new playmate they would have remained “comitted” when it fact it would have only been a committment to pretense, committment to a lie.
Better, more honest, and results in an easier breakup if the breakup comes first and somewhere down the road they meet someone else.
It is nearly certain that the husband was a philanderer BEFORE he asked for the divorce. He’s a dishonest individual and that has nothing to do with the age of his new playmate.

California elects Jerry Brown with 55% plus another 5% of the votes go to candidates more looney left than him. Now JB wasn’t a Baraq Obama type where a bunch of folks got fooled. He was probably the best known pol (with the track record to go with it) in the state.

According to the news, her father died when she was six years old. I am sure this is the classic case of a young girl needing a father figure. Daddy issues 101. And the teacher took full advantage of it.
Why? Both are adults and able to make their own decisions. There is more to love than age or how someone looks.
At 18 I was self sufficient, running my own business and paying for engineering school. I bought my first property and was almost married before the age of 20. Sadly it didn't work out for tragic reasons.

Different standard of what. I don’t care if the women is 41 and the male is 18 or the other way around. Mature 41 year olds are not interested in 18 year olds. I don’t care how self sufficient you are.
Given that men usually die some 6 to 7 years before women, both of you do realize that she stands one helluva chance of being a widow one day, no?
I'm not in court over this, nor am I trying to prove any case. I just know pedophiles, having been a little girl once.
There is enough outrage over this case, that I will not be surprised if they slap him with *concrete* charges that WILL stick, because this is bad PR for the school system.
