Gingrich plans to campaign in Kansas

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich intends to make a two-day campaign swing through Kansas in conjunction with the March 10 statewide caucus.

Gingrich, who has devoted much of his attention to home state Georgia, is expected to appear next Friday morning at Kansas Republican Party headquarters, 2605 S.W. 21st, in Topeka and meet over the noon hour with legislators at the Capitol.

"It's confirmed," said Clay Barker, executive director of the state's Republican Party.

Forty delegates from Kansas are on the line. Voting will occur at 99 caucus sites on Saturday, March 10. The vote in Kansas will be the first big test following Super Tuesday with 10 states holding primaries and caucuses.

The four major candidates in the national GOP campaign -- Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Gingrich -- paid $10,000 to the Kansas GOP to be on the ballot.

Gingrich's schedule includes a campaign stop in Wichita on Friday afternoon before flying back to Johnson County to meet with supporters.

The plan is for the former U.S. House speaker to return to Sedgwick County on Saturday as Kansans begin gathering for caucus speeches and voting. A noon Saturday visit to Hutchinson is on his calendar.

U.S. Rep. Paul, of Texas, set up an office in Lenexa. Former U.S. Sen. Santorum of Pennsylvania has a campaign presence in Wichita. Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, is not campaigning in the state.

In 2008, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee emerged as winner of the Kansas caucus.

To vote in the 2012 edition of the caucus, a Kansan must have been a registered Republican by Feb. 17. There are no advance or absentee ballots for this caucus, which is organized by the state GOP.

Voters should attend a caucus in their home congressional district. A list of sites is available at www.ksgop.org.

Caucus proceedings are to begin at 10 a.m. March 10, but doors will open early to allow credentialing of voters who must present a state-issued photo ID. Doors are to close at 1 p.m.

Electioneering at the caucus sites is encouraged and supporters of each candidate on the ballot will deliver short speeches.

I will be giving a presentation for Mr. Newt at the Kansas Caucus next Saturday. I would like to have suggestions from FreeRepublic on an outline. I would also like to download the Video on his debates if someone could help me do that. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you, First! I've added it to our queue. It looks good.

We watched "The Big Year" about birders who try to see the most species of birds in one year. They travel all over the US to
see as many birds as fast as they can. Steve Martin, Jack Black, and Owen Wilson star, and they all did a great job. Four stars.

Also, what we thought was a horror movie, "Dream House" with dreamboat Daniel Craig, Rachel Weiss, Naomi Watts, and
Elias Koteas. It turned out to be a very satisfying, redemptive ghost story, and we gave it four stars as well.

Somewhere there is a list of Newt’s accomplishments. Most people know what he accomplished in Congress and his connection to Reagan, but there is a list of everything he has done since leaving Congress and it is an impressive list. He has been about helping the nation for years, even though he had no obligation to do so. He is a true patriot. Don’t let the personal “baggage” become an issue. It’s not relevant to what he can do as president.
