“I equate Republicans’ political views with thoughtlessness, intolerance and narcissism.”

Has she noticed the narcissistic psychopath inhabiting the White House?

It was awful, and it went on until after 3 AM

And who's fault is that? Couldn't walk away from the free booze? She was at their cabin.

You can never use logic and reason when discussing politics with a lefty.

When her neighbors, an inter-racial couple, tell her that the TEA party is not bigoted because they belong, she chooses her own twisted views rather than the facts that are in front of her.

Might as well stop right there, no logic or proof will work because her liberal views are her religion and we all know that religion requires only one thing, absolute FAITH and BELIEF, end of story.

As a Catholic, it is not possible for me to explain Virgin Birth, yet I believe it, nutz, crazy, insane or just part of my religion?

This is the only way that I can understand and accept the fact that so many liberals walk among us, and are so content in their irrational views of reality.

Limousine liberal Wagman can’t find some peace at her Sierra Nevada retreat? Because her tea-party neighbors have suddenly rented some of the (widely) available space in her head? Boo f*cking hoo ...

The bottom line is that Mr. Sowell is quite right. There is such a cultural and sociological divide between liberals and conservatives that it is probable that their brains are hardwired differently and there will never be a reasonable consensus achieved. But the good lady should understand that as a conservative, I want nothing more than the most superficial relationship with liberal colleagues or neighbors. Simply do not trust them. Anyone who can alter their conscience to acquiesce to the wholesale killing of innocent human life is quite capable of any betrayal or atrocity. Kindly stay away from me.

Ms. Wagman goes on to express her wish for conservatives: “If only they would all go live in Gingrich’s moon colony.”

If we did they would hunt us down, telll us how to live, call us names and demand we send tax money back to earth to pay for their French ticklers, abortions and algae powered Volts.

After arriving in California some time ago, I was told that the thing which makes California different (intended to be a description of how California is supposed to be better) is the following:

In most places, nothing goes, and everything matters. People are busybodies, and try to worry too much about what others think.

In Cali, the contrast being, that here it’s more like Shania Twain sang so wonderfully:

“that don’t impress me much”.

Nobody really gives a * whether you’re driving a BMW, or what you do. Someone else has more, drives a cooler car, or knows so-and-so.

Big woop.

Now all that’s changed. The left now has morphed into the snooping neighbor, peering through the curtains and being busybodies.

I think that’s what is destroying California. Without question there was once a sort of perfect combination of libertarian free-wheeling inventiveness, and defiant independence to Californians. Especially defiance.

Now it’s become the opposite. Pod people rule Cali.

A leftist, gray bog of nastiness, hating those who do not adhere to the marxist orthodoxy.

Liberals do not recognize, they have destroyed the very freedom to “live and let live” which once characterized the state.

Why would anyone want to associate with the useful idiots of the Left? They are criminals, traitors and they spit in the face of God and Christ. They are destined for the fires of hell if they don't repent and change from their evil ways. Pray for them. . but don't play with them.

I'm not feeling so charitable this morning (waiting for coffee).

During the late 80’s early 90’s, my husband & I lived in Ojai CA in Ventura County. We drove north to visit my brother in Fresno. Geographic confusion in title.

“We are not the same. I equate Republicans’ political views with thoughtlessness, intolerance and narcissism. They’re neither kind nor empathetic.”

And I equate Democrats’ political views with defining kindness as forcing others to do their will for the benefit of those who refuse to provide for themselves, and empathy as enabling the weak to indulge in their character flaws.

Not a whole lot of common ground there.

She idly wonders if any number of bitter misfortunes, such as having a son killed in Afghanistan, a daughter turning up pregnant, or a sister announcing that she was a lesbian would change her neighbor’s opinions

The Personalization Fallacy, a relative of the Authority Fallacy, is part of the bedrock of the liberal thought process.

She finishes her article by stating, “Next time I drive to our cabin, I’m going to make sure I take everything I could possibly need. I don’t want to ask my neighbors for help. I hope it’s their weekend to stay home.”

So she wants to live a life of self sufficiency because she doesn't want to ask for her neighbors' help, but is perfectly willing to demand that same help for herself and everyone she wants to appear generous to with the IRS's guns. Apparently doublethink is alive and well in that walnut which she tries to pass off as a brain.

LOL. I have to laugh at this woman. Mr. RightField and I are an interracial couple, from Southern California, now living in Florida. New people we meet, even conservatives, nearly always assume we are liberal Democrats.

Liberals will start talking politics and liberal ideas right away; as in this story, they assume we think as they do. Conservatives will completely avoid politics and liberal ideas until we let them know our stand on the issues.

“They are a lovely family: husband, wife, and four smart, funny, polite children. I was sure they were Democrats.”

Speaks volumes about the inherent biases of democrats, doesn't it? The most vile racists known are democrats. The most intolerant people are "tolerant" democrats.

The latest deep thoughts from deep thinker Diana Wagman, Unemployment, and my new car, in which deep thinker Diana bemoans the fact that she has to accept unemployment payments from the state to keep up the payments on her new car, which she simply HAD to have so that she could give her old car to her daughter for school and of course, she was laid off from her public sector state job because of the "mismanagement" of state officials. She really, really wanted to keep working at it. Really she did.

It would seem that Diana Wagman is afraid of contrasting views. Like a child covering her ears so as not to hear anything that might prove her world view wrong. She is sure of her views because all her liberal friends agree with her and just can’t fathom another point of view. Her world view is reinforced by watching MSNBC, CBS and NPR. It would be too much of a shock (see article) to discover she is wrong.

We all know people like this lady. Deluded in their own self-righteousness, babbling about “tolerance” while being THE most doctrinaire, unforgiving person on the planet. Sowell is correct that it’s basically pointless to interact with people divided so much politically.
