Two new polls released Sunday show Mitt Romney surging in Tennessee, closing the gap behind rival Rick Santorum.
Santorum has 34 percent support to Romney's 30 percent among likely GOP voters in the state, according to the latest survey from conservative polling outlet Rasmussen Reports. But Santorum's edge is within the poll's four-point margin of error.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich follows with 18.
Well, I’m not for Romney, but it would be nice if Santorum got knocked out by losing Ohio and Tennessee. This needs to get down to Newt and Romney.
I was recently laid up with double pneumonia. It was nasty stuff, I missed 3 weeks of work and am still regaining my strength. During the early part of it when I was really feeling bad I was checking news sites like FR, Drudge, Fox News for stories about the election to and fro. I read some quote from Sheldon Adelson, this was at the time where he said he might spend a $100 million supporting Newt, that seemed to indicate the reason he was doing it was to thwart the Santorum bid. Presumably in support of Romney by way of restraining Santorum by backing Gingrich.
This didn’t make a lot of sense to me and I tried to research it but I was weak and tired and soon I was back to sleep in the recliner. I haven’t forgotten it, though, and it will be interesting to see how long Newt hangs on if he doesn’t catch fire soon and move up to be a real contender. Santorum is already telling Newt to get out.
/End ravings of an old sick guy :)
I thought the people of Tennessee were smarter than that..
Only Newt has those peoples values of freedom in mind..
Rick is in freefall and supporters glum on all blogs.
After this week Newt will have 75 delegates just out of Georgia, is that correct? And Newt numbers are no longer stagnant but up in other states, following that great performance on Huckabee’s Forum.
Rick Perry expects a Texas sweep for Newt and we’re talking contested convention as a VERY strong possibility!!
SPEECHES will be in vogue again at convention, and the two problem definers, Santorum and Romney, will fall again to the only problem solver of the three, Newt Gingrich.
Additionally it includes Independents and Democrats in small numbers who claim they are certain to vote in the GOP primary.
I would not be surprised to see Romney win this one narrowly with Gingrich and Santorum fighting for second.
In the midst of a surge or a collapse things move very rapidly and pollsters have a hard time keeping up.
Dems are going to vote for Romney in droves
Mittens Romney is gaingin? ARG!!!!!!!
