A woman close to me once characterized the sea change in our society well. Years ago you knew who the bad girls were, said she. Now you know who the good girls are.
And the good boys get condemned for not pretending the bad girls are good.
I am, of course, speaking about the dust up involving law student Sandra Fluke and talk-show host Rush Limbaugh. Fluke had said in front of Congress that financing rolls in the hay can be so expensive that it can be a burden on women in law school. So she wants you, dear taxpayer, to foot the bill for her contraception. In response to this, Limbaugh called her a slut during his commentary on the matter. And now hes being labeled a sexist and misogynistic for it (he has since apologized).
Of course, in Flukes testimony, she didnt literally say that she was having $1000-worth of sex a year. What she said was, Without insurance coverage, contraception can cost a woman over $3000 during law school. For a lot of students who, like me, are on public interest scholarships, thats practically an entire summers salary. Now, Ill leave it to you to determine her implication, but Ill say that if a female law student is engaging in so much sexual congress that shes spending a mint on birth-control, I wouldnt reflexively assume shes a slut.
Because Id wonder how she was working her way through law school.

This is the best article I've read on the subject.
Some people just shouldn't breed.
S=stupid.
L=lowlife.
U=useless.
T=Twit.
Just so you know,MIZ Fluck.
The Left hosted a well-publicized series of “Slut Walks” for “reproductive rights” just last year. As Boston organizers said, “Its a walk to take back the word SLUT in order to show that the nature of your being is not determined by how many sexual partners you have.”
So now they have decided to give the word back?
SO... are the coeds at Georgetown SLUTS or not? Ms. Fluke said they are. Granted that she may not be one (at least a heterosexual one).
Can this many Dittohead types really be this ignorant: for the usual contraceptive pill to be effective it has to be taken regularly, without regard for the frequency of sex.
Who suggests otherwise?
So I'm guessing slut is now bad again?
Fluke is a Communist Agitator !
That was the first thing I thought of. I’ll bet a steak dinner there’s a photo of Fluke in that march somewhere.....
If these people feel the consequences of their actions perhaps they will tailor their behavior, but these days they want everyone else to pay for the suit.
“I’ll be sober in the morning” comes to mind.
“Can this many Dittohead types really be this ignorant: for the usual contraceptive pill to be effective it has to be taken regularly, without regard for the frequency of sex.”
Condoms are also contra-(against)ceptive (conception), and are NOT required “to be taken regularly, without regard for the frequency of sex”.
Her $1,000 worth of contraception costs per year is absurd since BC pills are about $20/month or less and condoms less than $1 each. Condoms and other BC devices are widely available at low cost or even free from places like Planned Parenthood. To run up $3,000 worth of contraception costs during three years of law school might also have to include BC pills plus one or more abortions, using 1,000 condoms per year or BC pills with 760 condoms annually. I would say that a woman in any one of these scenarios would very easily be considered a slut by any standard.
Nancy Pelosis initiative to convince Sandra Fluke to testify to the principle of contraception as a health care necessity is simply wrong. Colleges and universities provide accidental injury/major medical and not traditional employee health insurance to students. Since students are generally young and not subject to the myriad diseases confronting older people or families with children, the coverage is limited. Not only contraceptives, but many medical procedures and drugs are not included. Since sexual intercourse is an optional, and not a required activity of law school students, contraceptives should not be among policy provisions.
Ms. Fluke testified that 40% of the women in law school considered sexual intercourse a compelling or preferred recreational activity. Therefore, the proper place to make her case is with the Georgetown University Student Association. The university encourages students to actively engage in more than 200 co-curricular clubs and activities. She testified to what would be more accurately described as a club sport or performing art, than as a health care necessity.
The analogy should not be considered facetious, but should awaken people to the limits of targeted, low cost insurance programs.
“She didnt literally say that she was having $1000-worth of sex a year...Ill say that if a female law student is engaging in so much sexual congress that shes spending a mint on birth-control...”
The primary question on this issue revolves around birth control pills—that is what is at stake in the conversation.
She handles apologies like an Afghan muzzie and at age 30 is still trying to decide what she wants to be when she grows up, but in the meantime wants to hand us the bill.
Ecce homo.
Here are other prescribed methods that can cost in the range that Miss Fluke quoted and are not linked to the frequency of sex:
“But for many other women — even those with insurance — that annual cost is much higher. Using the NuvaRing or getting Depo-Provera shots can add up to from $480 to $900 each year, depending on insurance coverage. Equally steep is an IUD, at least up front. The cost of the device plus an office appointment for insertion runs in the range of $600 to $700 total.”
