The commissioner of the Correction Department says prison guards have been training for the possibility that they would have to execute 1 of Connecticut's death row inmates.
The Journal Inquirer of Manchester reports that at least one employee traveled to Texas last year to witness an execution by lethal injection.
Correction Department Commissioner Leo Arnone told the newspaper that the training started after department officials told him they would not know how to proceed if they had to execute 1 of the state's 11 death row inmates.
The last prisoner executed in Connecticut, serial killer Michael Ross, died by lethal injection in 2005 after waiving his appeals.
Correction Department spokesman Brian Garnett said the training began nearly a year ago to keep up with state rules.

We could give some hands on training in Texas.
Right down the street from me. When they get all worked up for an execution the traffic on the way to the mall gets all tied up.
Oh well....
Rats. I thought they meant firing squads.
Komisarjevsky will be executed this summer, I last heard. I’m glad I moved from CT to TX and I pray for Mr. Petit to encourage US citizens to have more active and potent home defense plans against people like Komisarjevsky and his like.
