Although most conservatives understand the important of defeating Obama, the next Congress has to be almost coequal in importance. ObamaCare, for example, cannot be repealed without control of the House of Representatives and not only control of the Senate, but enough senators to forestall a filibuster. Appointments to the federal bench, especially the Supreme Court, require Senate approval. Many of the reforms which conservatives see as vital to economic growth -- reform of the tax code, deregulation of environmental extremism, and changes to the entitlements systems -- will require congressional concurrence.
The structure of the Senate races in 2012 and also in 2014 favors Republicans. This is a consequence of the Democrats' big win six years ago in the 2006 election. Ten Republicans defend seats, and seven of those -- Indiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, Wyoming, Utah, and Arizona -- have been strongly Republican in recent decades. How Republican? Each of those seven states has a Republican governor, two Republican senators, and Republicans control both houses of the state legislature.
Two states may be considered toss-ups: Nevada and Maine. Both states have Republican governors. Nevada has one senator of each party, and Maine has two Republican senators. The Nevada legislative chambers are split, but both houses of the Maine legislature are controlled by Republicans. The ethical imbroglio of John Ensign and the decision by Olympia Snowe not to seek re-election, however, put these seats in play. The only Republican Senate seat in jeopardy because the state is strongly Democrat is Massachusetts, but Scott Brown still runs surprisingly well in polls.
Democrat senators are retiring in North Dakota, Nebraska, Virginia, Wisconsin, and New Mexico. North Dakota and Nebraska are very red states, and Virginia is also a red state, though less emphatically. Republicans have strong candidates in Wisconsin, Virginia, and New Mexico.

There’s little if any difference between Obama and Romney.

Unfortunately, Boehner and McConnell have shown themselves to be supporters of the status quo and not reformers of the socialist welfare state. A Romney Presidency with Boehner and McConnell leading Congress is likely to sustain the substantial changes (regulatory and legislative) accomplished by Obama/Pelosi/Reid and not roll them back. Plus this “moderate” leadership team is unlikely to make any progress toward fiscal responsibility.

Why are you certain that Romney will not keep his promise to repeal Obamacare?
He already said that on his first month in office, he will issue an executive order to grant WAIVERS to every state that wish NOT to participate in Obamacare.
That waiver alone will deal a death blow to this law.
That is a huge difference right there.
Obamacare is Romneycare. He’ll never repeal it.
With Romney as the candidate Republicans may have major losses in the House and not gain in the Senate. Many who would vote for a conservative presidential candidate will see no reason to vote for president and will stay home and thus not vote for Senators and Representatives either.

Here is where we differ in our perception. I believe HE WILL REPEAL IT.
And I am not being naive about it.
If he does not keep this one promise he has shouted on the rooftops in every debate and speech, and on that basis, receiving the votes he’s been getting, he’s killing himself politically.
He might have lied before but Romney is no fool and not a suicidal politician.
Even a liar will keep his promise once in a while. This is going to be one of those times.
On this one issue alone, it is worth NOT sitting this election out and allowing Obama to cruise.

I cannot speak for anyone else. I only have one vote in the primaries and if it comes to NY, I’ll vote for either Newt or Santorum (whoever is left by then ).
But even with this effort of mine, Romney still becomes the ultimate nominee, I’ll vote for him in November, if only to get Obama out of our lives.
The new Tea Party blood that has been in Washington since the last elections has given us legal unrestricted detention and assassination of citizens among other atrocities. There is no integrity in them. We work and elect our guys to Congress and when they get there they are not our guys anymore. The problem is that as Representatives they make lots of money working for companies and groups with money to give them and do not need to even be re-elected to lever themselves into the financial Elite of the society. Once elected they are quickly affluent.
You must be one of those people that walks into a used car lot and believes everything the salesman tells you...
By the way, how many conservative judges did Governor Romney appoint in Massachusetts?

At some point, you have to trust your guts.
I am not naive, Romney is no conservative.
But if we are dealt a bad bargain, Romney vs Obama, I will not sit this one out. My slogan is ABO ( Anybody But Obama ).
I’d rather have a possible repeal of Obamacare (Romney’s promise) than have a SURE NON-REPEAL.
The defeat of the kenyan by Obamney will simply preserve the Obamunist gains and solidify the new bureaucracy for the Democrat- perhaps even kenyan- Restoration in 2016. A Romney presidency will also leave a majority Democrat House and Senate, perhaps super majority, for the 2016 incoming Social Democrat.

Even Mark Levin expressed concerns last night that Bishop Romney's sleazy scorched-earth campaign tactics may so badly poison the Republican well that most Gingrich and Santorum supporters will refuse to get behind him and the GOP after the convention.

Funny you mentioned Mark Levin, because he said if Romney (God forbid) is the candidate, he’ll vote for him if only to prevent another Obama term. He thinks like me.

You don’t have to just as I am willing to. It’s all a matter of perception.
One thing is certain, we can’t both be right on this matter.
We can only find out of Romney (God forbid) gets elected over Obama.
Sometimes we are not given the choice of good vs evil, but two evils. I still believe Romney is the lesser evil of the two.
If Romney is our candidate he will lose, but even if he won, we would gain nothing.
