10 million years since the species split?
Was someone there?
Do they actually have the DNA of the “common ancestor” to prove this?
Or is this just another question begging conclusion?

There is a bit of triangulation needed to come up with the dates of the split between human ancestors and gorillas and chimps—and it is inexact—but for the gorilla split, it probably should be written 10 million +/- 1.5 million years.
