Single issue moralists continuing to vote against their better economic interests.
Santorum has a better grip on foreign policy than Newt. He communicates more clearly about it as well. I'm not so thrilled about a lot of his other positions, but he is more trustworthy than Newt's propensity to chase the fashion of the moment, be it biodiversity, global warming, carbon trading, or healthcare mandates.
Get a grip.
“Single issue moralists continuing to vote against their better economic interests.”
Santorum is just their version of Mitt Romney.
But Santorum is still far, far better preferable to Romney and I would have no qualms about voting for him if ti comes down to those two.
Is that you Rudy Giuliani? The flaw in your thinking is that without a foundational belief in the sanctity and value of each and every individual life, one has no consistent basis for the principles of a free market.
If one can arbitrarily snuff out segments of the population, one artificially screws with the generational balance of producers and consumers.
"Fixing the economy" with meat axe tax cuts, deregulation of private industry, deconstructing useless redundant bureaucracies and a dynamic energy policy, while critical first steps, will ultimately amount to little more than a band-aid on a bullet hole without a restoration of more traditional morality.
While that can not, and should not, be legislated, it will never occur without an emphasis on personal morality and responsibility at the top.
I agree with you. I will be voting for Newt here in AL, but I have come to the conclusion that Romney will wind up being the nominee, and I will vote for him over zero in the general. Anyone who decides not to vote just because they don't like Romney will be helping to re-elect zero (spare me the flames).
lol
Exactly, the ‘righteous’ ones being conned by a ‘liar’.
You're talking about the Bible Belt here. Language like that doesn't win friends for Gingrich.
I had a long talk today with a local Republican official in which I said that I can live with Gingrich, but I'm seriously concerned that a Gingrich nomination will enable an anti-Christian secular spirit in the Republican Party that acts as if it wants to turn the GOP into a European-style conservative party which favors free markets, law enforcement, the military, and nationalist issues, but opposes a role for religion in the public square.
I do not believe Newt Gingrich wants a secular conservative future for America. In fact, I think Newt Gingrich may want a new crusade in favor of Western Judeo-Christian civilization against Islamofascist tyranny. I like many things that Gingrich stands for, and while I voted for Santorum, I believe that a conservative Christian can vote for Newt Gingrich in good conscience if that person believes Gingrich is the best candidate to defeat President Obama.
However, quite a few of Gingrich's supporters are harming his case. People who say things like what you said only antagonize the Christian conservative movement within the Republican Party.
I believe Gingrich knows better than to do that. I wish his supporters did as well.
What “single issue”?
