Yeah, I was concerned until I read who conducted the poll.

Wonder if they even asked anyone outside the teacher's lounges.

The Alabama GOP Forum on March 12 will be a very big deal. Of course maybe the Alabama Education Association or Mitt Romney will buy all of the tickets for the 2,500 seats and pack the hall with their supporters. That way when Newt Gingrich wins the debate the crowd won’t go NUTS, wildly cheering and such!

Santorum won the straw poll by the Tea Party group in Huntsville a week or two ago. Newt was here Tuesday, I went, Santorum here today and I’m staying home.

The 65 and older crowd really seems to be in the tank for Romney. You would think retired folks who have a lot of time to become educated about the candidates would actually do so; but they probably get their news from CBS, NBC, ABC, and Aol.com

Carpetbagger?

Newt born to Pennsylvania, moved to Georgia, don’t that make him a carpetbagger?

It is unclear from the above but it seems that the poll is of Alabama teachers’ union members. If that is the case I am surprised Obama was not written in as the leader in the Republican primary. No way Romney polls number one among the general populus. If he could not take Tennessee no way is he going to win Alabama. The only issue as to Alabama and Mississippi is whether Santorum or Gingrich comes in first. If Santorum wins both of them, Gingrich is a goner.

“this is not credible”

You are correct. My brother owns a BBQ restaurant and I work there with him and I have become really good friends with a bunch of the regulars.I know them well enough that we often talk politics and I can tell you the only comment I have heard from almost everyone of them is that they can’t stand Romney, and won’t vote for him in the primary because he’s not a conservative. Most people in this northern part of Alabama are 100% behind Gingrich with a few Santorum supporters. I will bet 500 bucks that Romney won’t win in Alabama.

Perhaps it’s because Romney goes after anyone who dares to criticize the sacred cow of entitlements, remember the Perry flap.

I live in Alabama , there is no way Romney wins this state anymore than he was going to win GA or SC or the Florida panhandle.

I'm a Alabama resident and I don't know anyone who admits to supporting Mittens. It's an open primary so dems will probably be voting for “not Romney” - just to cause problems.

The Alabama GOP is holding a forum on Monday at 5:30 pm with Santorum and Gingrich. So far, neither Willard or Paul has agreed to attend. This could be a great forum to see some serious discussion of conservative ideas and compare and contrast Newt and Rick side by side. If you feel so moved, please call C-Span and CNN and urge them to cover this forum. I doubt Fox would carry it because Romney likely will not be attending.

You can call CNN at 4048271500…option 2,2,2 and leaving a message to air the March 1st debate...also www.cnn.com under “contact us” at bottom of te screen u can email this request.

“The poll, conducted by the polling are of the Alabama Education Association...”

This phrase in the article makes absolutely no sense. There are no internals linked to and yet the self-annointed and always quoted poll geniuses, “Real Clear Politics”, actually posts this Poll on their front page. RCP is really a GOPe site. Hundreds of people could put together a site like RCP and Drudge. They create none of their own content, and all they have to do is simple math to get their poll averages. I could keep that site current with a 4 hour work day.

You know, I have this worry, and I haven’t said anything about it because I am a worrier, and can overreact some time. But the day after super Tuesday Larry Sabato, a democrat, was on Fox saying VA had committed some illegal acts in the way they kept Newt and others off the ballot, and it could be traced directly back to the VA GOP.

I have an acquaintance in the nat’l campaign, who was in Tennesse, and he told me that all during the Tennessee campaign, their county never had their calls returned from the Newt’s TN campaign hdqtrs. He was some sort of officer in the county. He said they finally got so tired of waiting for guidance and support from Newt’s campaign, they just improvised, did their own little grassroots campaign, a very frugal but dedicated one, and his particular precinct went to Newt for 68%... he wasn’t sure of the cty numbers.

But I am wondering how possible it is that Newt’s campaign has been moled into... Newt’s state chair goes to santorum a day or so before the primary, why? Because all his dirty work was done?

Remember when one of perry’s main contributors defected to romney right before the vote?

This gentlemen who told me about his TN experience is very reliable and reasonable... I am not sure what it all means.

Regarding Romney winning in Alabama, it would surprise me too. All things considered, I thought Romney did fine in OK and TN. If Newt could replicate SC in AL and MS, well, that could shake things up.
