NEW YORK (AP) -- A 12-year-old who sent a shopping cart hurtling onto a woman from a fourth-floor New York City mall walkway is being sent to a therapeutic foster home.
A Manhattan Family Court judge sentenced the boy Thursday to at least six and up to 16 months in the residential program.

Have a better idea. Let’s drop the same kind of shopping cart from the same altitude on the 12 year old and see if that kind of therapy works! I bet he won’t do it again if he receives what he gave.

FWIW, the AP story did say that the judge could extend the stay [in the residential program, aka, still no jail...]

Yes she was, and the little rascal pushed a shopping cart so it rolled and struck her.
The only other way to read that is if he had been on the walkway and dropped the cart more than 60 foot on her while she was underneath.
If anyone follows the lives of these two little thugs, I predict that we will be hearing about them again and other citizens will pay the price for the short, lenient sentences.
From what I read she is awake but not much more.She was hurt badly and there is no way of knowing if she will ever recover to the point of begin able to care for herself.This sentence is too light IMHO since they have basically killed her.

I think the kid should be thrown off the parking lot ledge inside a cart.
