"Capitalism Gives Us The iPad. Government Gives Us...The Postal System"

If the first iPad, released in April 2010, were a government program, it would be the most successful Washington initiative in history.

Apple has sold more than 50 million iPads so far, and they are expected to sell another 50 million this year alone. Their nearest competitor, Samsung, is expected to sell just 8 million. In fact, 83 percent of all tablet users in the United States had iPads last year, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The astonishing success of the iPad has helped make Apple the most valuable company in the world. And what is Apple doing with this precious creation?

They’re throwing it out. Again.

This week brought us “the new iPad,” Apple’s name for the iPad 3. The first one just came out two years ago, and already Apple has upgraded it twice. They’ve added higher screen resolution, faster processing, quicker Internet speeds, and all at the same price as the previous models.

Major improvements, all at no extra charge.

Like I said, if the iPad were a government program . . .

But then again, it wouldn’t be.

Washington doesn’t give us iPads. It give us the Postal Service.

The post office is essentially USPS 1.0. It’s been doing the same thing in largely the same way for 200 years without a reboot. And it’s losing $1 billion a month.

Defenders of the postal service point out that they’re not in the “for-profit” business, that they lose money in part because they service small towns and low-income communities.

Apple, on the other hand, is an evil capitalist enterprise. It gets no government subsidies, it doesn’t act in the “public interest” and its only motive is the profit motive. All Apple wants to do is make money.

So let me ask you: If you had to rely on...

All governments are collapsing under massive debt , proving again that socialism doesn't work. The federal government is 16 trillion in debt with Obama adding 5 trillion more in debt. State and local governments add even more in debt. But democrats say just grow government more. This current government is not sustainable and needs to be shrunken dramatically.

The post office couldn't do anything if they weren't using technology created and maintained by the private companies like computers, postage machines, machines that sort mail, trucks etc. Look at the government schools: they are using all the technology from private companies but still are failing miserably and those need to be totally disbanded now.

The fact is as government expands efficiency contracts and so we have to borrow more money hence the 5 trillion Obama has borrowed. That's not sustainable .So what you have to do is minimize government as much as possible to maintain efficiency, root out corruption, and to keep our liberty.

Socialism doesn't work. As government expands ,liberty, freedom, and efficiency contract. As government expands , inefficiency grows, tyranny grows , corruption grows. This is why the U.S. government has 17 trillion in debt.Add to that state and local government debts. And what are they producing for that? Collapse. All governments, state , federal local are collapsing under debt and also In Europe.

This is a silly juxtaposition. The Post Office worked well for a long time. But time marches on and much of its former usefulness has been made obsolete.
